Position Summary:

The Sr. Director, Insights and Innovation role spans across ideation, innovation, go-to-market strategy, product and packaging development and market, consumer and customer insights. The role will build and commercialize a three-year innovation pipeline to deliver on the strategic targeted growth objectives. This role will lead insights for the Division, providing the General Management and Sales teams with key insights that drive growth in existing categories and category adjacencies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Build and support the identification of a robust three-year strategy and innovation pipeline
  • Establish, monitor and measure the effectiveness of the innovation strategy
  • Provide thought leadership in identifying new, customer-centric value propositions
  • Facilitate the ideation process for product and program development
  • Leverage and influence the sales organization to manage customer relationships and execute key go-to-market tactics (pricing, merchandising, shelving, and assortment)
  • Develop tools and reporting to support General Managers' businesses
  • Provide divisional leadership and prioritization on IRI resources
  • Monitor, analyze and interpret market, category, customer and consumer insight and trend data from multiple sources; leverage insights to drive innovation plans and initiatives
  • Support innovation execution by leading the development of Sales materials
  • Support Sales teams for new items, category reviews, new business acquisition
  • Provide diagnostic analytic support to the General Manager teams for base business issues (i.e. panel data, category segmentation)
  • Partner with R&D to identify and leverage internal technical, process and production capabilities that would provide competitive advantage
  • Identify business cases for capital investment and resource allocation
  • Monitor performance against financial and operational goals and work cross functionally to drive corrective action
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ten or more years of relevant, progressive product management experience within the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Creative thinker with strong experience leading strategic innovation processes and the ability to draw out these capabilities in others
  • Proven ability to lead through influence
  • Strong experience in qualitative and quantitative research/analytics
  • Strong understanding of innovation best practices in consumer packaged goods
  • Project management experience in a cross functional environment
  • Demonstrated financial acumen – preferred prior experience managing a full P&L
  • Clear and concise communication style
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the development of compelling presentations
  • Strong communication skills with business, creative, and technical audiences; in particular, the ability to take complex ideas and articulate them clearly and simply
  • Strong thought and people leadership experience


  • Bachelor's Degree Required – Type: Business or related field
  • Master's Degree Required -- Type: Preferred
