This position will lead the digital strategy for the company to include strategy and roadmap development for computer assisted surgery software. This position will work to identify strategic priorities across the business and work with the development teams to assess timelines. This position will be responsible for assessing the technology landscape and for developing recommendations and executing upon on potential partnerships / business development opportunities.

*This position can be located in Memphis, TN, Minneapolis, MN or Atlanta, GA.

Essential Job Functions:

Work with the business division leadership and teams (product marketing, R&D) to understand their business growth drivers, clinical applications and procedures, and current technology solutions in computer assisted surgery to define unmet needs and develop digital surgery strategy

Develop strong understanding and detailed analysis of technology landscape (new and emerging) and market trends in computer assisted surgery (e.g. imagining, augmented reality, robotics, AI) to support the business in evaluating, prioritizing and developing the company's digital / technology roadmap

Validate/refresh the company's digital/technology strategy, in coordination with the business and software leadership team, by collaborating across teams to understand unmet clinical needs, trends and to prioritize and evaluate software/technology opportunities

Identify strategic digital, technology priorities and work with the software development organization to develop internal versus external development partner recommendations; identifying and executing partner opportunities to accelerate the strategy

Work with the business and development teams in support of a solutions architecture inclusive of software, data, security and hardware recommendations

Develop strategy and recommendations in support of new business models in consideration of software, data and analytics to monetize strategic technology assets

Develop and manage key executive relationships with strategic partners and lead negotiation of technology and business agreements with those partners

Collaborate closely with the business leadership and the functions to develop strategy and align product / software technology strategy with other functional digital strategies (IT, supply chain, analytics)


Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or computer science; Master's Degree or other advance degree preferred

Life Sciences, Medical device and/or specific orthopedic experience a plus, but not required

10+ years of experience in leading and managing digital, technology strategy plans, initiatives

10+ years of experience in Computer Assisted Surgery systems (or Medical Device relevant) preferred

Demonstrated leadership in digital technology General Management, product development, software strategy, and/or experience in software/system architecture design

Strong knowledge of current, emerging technologies involved in Computer Assisted Surgery including but not limited to cloud, imaging, AR/VR, AI, web technologies, mobile applications

Experience in collaborating and developing partners across the technology ecosystem

Experience in executing or managing all aspects of full life-cycle product development, preferred

Strong strategic and creative thinking, work ethic, business acumen, organizational, project management and decision-making skills

Strong software strategy / software engineering background; and/or experience in developing, leading software business strategy and/or division for healthcare or related industries

Ability to connect unmet clinical needs to available, emerging technologies; and to communicate across business, software development and infrastructure teams to develop strategy and roadmaps

Knowledge of digital and new emerging technology solutions, including but not limited to cloud, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, analytics, etc.

Proven leader in building strategic alliances and partner ecosystem; and/or related experience in collaborating with external e.g. co-development, outsourcing, etc.

Ability to establish strong working relationships across all levels of management; and ability to work collaboratively and independently to influence and achieve desired results

Experience with developing and delivering effective C-level and Board level presentations; strong facilitation and influencing skills and exceptional writing skills
