A Day in the Life


• Partner with business unit president and their leadership teams to develop and execute on significant growth strategies for the business unit
• Provide decision support and strategic communication thought leadership to the business unit president and their leadership team in development and execution of business decisions on a global basis
• Diagnose business needs and translate into a strategic communication plan, and execute on that plan
• Partner with and influence the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group’s Communications (COE) to configure and deliver communication solutions and services. As such, drive an integrated delivery of Internal Communications, Executive Communications, Brand and External Communications as needed in support of business unit senior management and the business. 
• Integrate communication strategies with change management support, and implement execution metrics
• Collaborate with Medtronic corporate and heavily influence communications to ensure business unit interests are represented and aligned
• Manage “single source of the truth” and ‘hearts and minds” campaigns in support of integration communication within the business unit including development, implementation and tracking of campaigns
• Collaborate with and drive implementation of business unit strategic communications with regional communication partners
• Use strong influence management skills in the prioritization and execution of strategies with the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group’s Communications COE as well as with regional partners
• Ensure fair and consistent interpretation and application of Medtronic Minimally Invasive Therapies Group’s policies, practices and procedures that create and maintain the desired communications function and Minimally Invasive Therapies Group culture
• Lead or participate in project based work to support business or communication initiatives

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Communications, Business Administration or a related field required;  advanced degree preferred
• 10 - 15 years of professional communications experience in a senior management role
• Experience interacting with all levels of management, including executive leadership
• Experience working in a highly matrixed organization
• Experience with large, global companies and with implementation of common global programs and processes
• Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring others
• Ability to travel as required Nice to Have
• Ability to understand business, drivers and other key issues so incumbent can bring relevant business and functional solutions to the table
• Serve as a strategic thought partner and advisor to the BU President as it relates to the business strategy and communication needs
• Influence management skills, particularly within a matrixed environment, as well as a Center-led model
• Ability to quickly build trust and strong relationships
• Strong verbal and written communications
• Strong drive for results
• Ability to coordinate multiple and changing priorities
• Ability to effectively support change management initiatives
