Job Function This individual is responsible for Automotive Quality Engineering for Qualcomm QCT, the worlds largest fabless semiconductor company. Our goal is to be recognized by our automotive customers as the preeminent semiconductor solution provider delivering world class quality. The position of Senior Director, Automotive Quality Engineering is the key quality interface to our customers, our suppliers and the driver of automotive product quality within QCT business and engineering organizations. Responsibilities Provide leadership for US and international automotive quality personnel. Establish a compelling vision and supporting strategies resulting in Qualcomm being recognized by our customers as a premier quality supplier in this market. Maintain a current pulse of emerging automotive customer Quality & Reliability requirements and competitive landscape. Influence internal stakeholders with actionable data to ensure gaps to expectations are closed in a timely fashion. Drive product reliability qualifications to achieve AECQ100 and other requirements, including both hardware and software product quality Establish and maintain healthy relationships with influential/decision making Customer Quality & Reliability contacts. Establish proactive Q&R support strategies that result in high levels of customer satisfaction. Be visible via execution of routine Customer meetings and visits. Assume a leadership role in the resolution and communication of major product quality issues that may have impacted automotive customers; ensure customer RMA requests are met with a rapid response and founded on solid engineering evaluations. Lead continuous improvement of product quality via a Zero Defect mindset. Routinely mine the RMA data to highlight opportunities for systemic product quality improvement. Define supplier processes required to achieve automotive quality requirements and drive continuous improvement of product quality at suppliers Drive improvement in key automotive quality processes, for example APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Customer Quality Agreement reviews, specialized manufacturing flows and especially the problem resolution (8D) process. Review and approve key quality documentation: Customer issue notifications, Quality sections of Customer agreements, PCN approvals, 8D reports All Qualcomm employees are expected to actively support diversity on their teams, and in the Company. Minimum Qualifications 10-15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with multifaceted aspects of quality function (fab, assembly, test, reliability, etc.) and knowledge of Key aspects of fabrication and assembly, especially those contributing to customer issues.
5+ years of experience specifically in leading an automotive quality group
5 + years of experience at the Director level or higher directly interfacing with customers on quality & reliability requirements and issue resolution.
Understanding of automotive industry quality standards
Experienced in automotive quality processes: 8D, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, quality agreements, PCNs, customer audits, AEC100 requirements, etc.
Experience in the mentoring of high performing culturally diverse individuals
Strategic mindset: Ability to read the environment/risks and establish organization wide objectives targeted for measurable high impact results.
Strong structured problem solving capability including knowledge and application of statistical analysis methods and 8D investigations.
Preferred Qualifications Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and influence skills with internal stakeholders (Sales/Customer EngineeringApplications Engineering/Process Engineering/PTE) as well as external customers. High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. Superior verbal/written communication and presentation skills Data based decision making with ability to rapidly establish a clear path forward in ambiguous situations Education Requirements Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering and/or Materials Science
Preferred: Master's, Business Administration and/or Electrical Engineering and/or Materials Science
