The Senior Design Engineer position is responsible for establishing technical specifications, developing product designs that meet those specifications, modeling and analyzing systems, and solving technical problems 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•Design, develop, or re-design new or existing productions of a moderate to complex nature through release, build, or validation process working from direct instruction and/ or requirements 

•Engineering generalist able to plan and conduct various engineering work assignments with instruction 

•Applies robust engineering practices to all assignments 

•Works on unusual or complex problems with guidance 

•Define, interpret, and establish specifications using customer requirements, engineering calculations, or layouts 

•Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis 

•Use original thinking and ingenuity to solve problems 

•Complete tasks related to new product development or field issue resolution 

•Produce engineering documentation such as 3-D models and assemblies, Production Assembly Drawings (PADs), part requirement drawings, etc. 

•Develop engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and on-time 

•Effectively utilize computer-assisted engineering or design software to perform engineering tasks 

•Assign or approve work for CAD draftspersons, designers, technicians, or engineers 

•Other tasks as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

General 

•Bachelor’s (BS) degree in Engineering or EngineeringTechnologyrequired 

•5years of work experience in engineering or a related technical field required 

•Requiredengineering skills include both analytical and “hands-on” abilities 

•Consistent attention to detail 

•Strong: 

•Communication skills, verbal and written 

•Organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills 

•Strong leadership attributes 

•Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task and prioritize workload 

•Creative and innovative team player 

•Intermediate-level user in Microsoft Office Suite 

•CAD experience with emphasis on 2D and 3D; SolidWorks preferred 

•Ability to analyze and apply appropriate functional tolerances including use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) required 

•Commitment to excellence and high standards 

•Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities 

•Willing to improve self / area / company (including pursing additional training, if needed) 

•Knows and applies fumdamental concepts, practices, and procedures to engineering work 

•Detail knowledge of Company and products 

•Familiarity with robust engineering principles 

•Detail knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes and regulations 

Mechanical: 

•Ability to analyze and apply appropriate functional tolerances including use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) required 

• 

•Skilled knowledge of finite element analysis – Linear and Non-Linear 

•Welded joint fatigue analysis (Aluminum and Steel) 

•Bolted joint analysis 

•Failure analyses 

•Design optimization 

•Hand calculations 

•5years of experience in ANSYS/MSC/Abaqus or similar FEA software required 

•5years of experience in SolidWorks or similar CAD software required 

•Background in vehicle dynamic analysis preferred

$80K - $100K
$80K - $100K base, Vacation, PTO, Benefits bonus
