Senior Database Administrator

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, patch and upgrade database servers and client installs, with a focus of MSSQL server production support
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems and provide root cause analysis in a timely manner
  • Perform preventive maintenance and system copies
  • Automate system maintenance tasks
  • Develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans
  • Ensure storage and archiving processes are functioning correctly
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and data dictionary
  • Carry out capacity planning
  • Manage security and disaster recovery aspect of a database
  • Evaluate SQL Server performance and take appropriate steps for performance improvement
  • Provide 24x7 on-callsupport, after hours and weekend work as needed
  • Relational database design and development
  • Design OLTP and OLAP environments, and monitor, detect and tune performance
  • Complete other tasks asrequired

    Experience, Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited institution
  • 10+ yearexperience in administering Microsoft SQL server databases in commercial production setting
  • Extensive experience writing T-SQL, stored procedure, view, trigger, query tuning and ability of using tools and platforms and troubleshooting skills
  • Experienced in ETL dev and data integration
  • Experienced in SQL server integration services (SSIS), analysis services (SSAS) and reporting services (SSRS)
  • Must have a clear mastery of RDBMS and data normalization concepts, database architecture
  • Experience in SQL Server Clustering and High Availability technologies
  • Ability to develop and maintain DBA related procedure and documents
  • A pattern of grasping new technologies in MSSQL DBA area
  • MySQL, NoSQL administrationexperiencea plus
