Job Description

Lead the day-to-day operations of our SQL server landscape including our flagship SAP ECC and BW systems. Responsibilities include backup/recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, planning, analysis, troubleshooting, integration, installation, upgrades, configuration, operations, and maintenance of the database systems. Additional responsibilities will include periodic maintenance activities, refreshes, patching, and upgrades. The Sr. Database Administrator will also contribute to the operations and maintenance of the SAP Basis environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform performance monitoring and tuning for SQL Server and Open Source databases

- Create and implement physical database design

- Ensure RDMS software and server runtimes are fully optimized

- Perform database software installations, patching, and routine maintenance

- Analyze database issues, runtimes, and performance issues to determine root cause and resolution

- Provide 24x7 operational support for production and nonproduction database environments

- Create and monitor enterprise-level jobs for data extraction, transformation, and load

- Document, review, recommend, and change database models, schema's, and PL/SQL

- Make technical decisions following established policies and procedures to ensure database availability

- Collaborate with direct team, peer teams, and management when complex system issues arise

- Support backups, data archive, and disaster recovery functions

- Provide leadership for troubleshooting and system performance initiatives

Education and Experience

- Computer Science or Information Technology degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

- 5+ years of SQL server database administration experience on large scale SAP environments

- Experience with Windows Server and deployments to the Azure environment

- Extensive knowledge of system disaster recovery process; experience with SQL AlwaysOn a plus

- Exposure to the SAP Basis environment and commands

- Experience driving projects to completion

- Certification and/or License – N/A

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Understanding of system administration and development life cycle methodologies

- Knowledge of SQL server administration

- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating system

- Solid interpersonal, oral communication, and written communication skills

- Strong organizational skills
