About You:

You’re a communications expert and a self-starter who can develop our communications strategy and execute a regular drumbeat of content to raise awareness and reinforce Syapse’s leadership in precision medicine. You’ve done in-house public relations/communications for at least 8years and you’re capable of developing a strategy and executing detailed plans and day-to-day tactical work. You’re able to build trust and collaborate well with multiple teams and many different personality types.

About the role:

The Senior Manager of Communications is an individual contributor role that will own strategy and execution of all communications activities at Syapse. The role will work to raise awareness among our target audiences through public relations and integrated marketing/communications campaigns. The ideal candidate has strong relationships in life science media, a deep understanding of the life science industry and a working knowledge of genomics, oncology, and precision medicine. This role will work on-site from our SoMa office in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s communications strategy and execution, with a focus on external communications
  • Develop communication plans and manage execution to support company announcements and key business milestones
  • Drive end-to-end communication processes, including drafting content, coordinating with stakeholders, developing and maintaining editorial calendar, and publishing materials
  • Partner with product marketing, event marketing, marketing operations/automation, customer operations, and others across the organization to develop and support a broad range of communications initiatives
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on communications approach, messaging and positioning
  • Coordinate with Syapse customers, partners, and other organizations for key announcements
  • Work with and advise senior leadership on the right forum, timing, and content to deliver key communications and engagement goals
  • Build measurability into programs and gather insights to continuously improve
  • Drive brand awareness through meaningful stories in relevant publications, speaking engagements and other high-visibility platforms
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with key press
  • Research and lead executive speaking opportunities
  • Counsel and manage executive media interviews
  • Manage media and outside inquiries and support crisis communications as needed
  • Help develop and lead integrated campaigns across all channels

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or similar field
  • Life sciences/genomicsexperience strongly preferred
  • In-house company experiencerequired
  • Proven record of press relationships, particularly with life science and technology journalists
  • Experience providing communications support and counsel to C-level executives
  • Experience in developing joint communications with large partner/customer organizations
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to develop compelling content across all channels, including web, email, print, video, social, presentations, and more
  • Experience communicating to healthcare providers and health system executives
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change
  • Confident storyteller – able to distill key messages and present them in a compelling way
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to think strategically and executive successfully
