Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have tenured procurement competence, strong business acumen, domain experience in supporting Marketing functions, and direct experience in building and developing people, processes and systems. The candidate must be customer centric and be able to balance the demands of a rapidly growing, complex environment. The Director is a leader for all Marketing external spend management and is responsible to lead the delivery and implementation of both strategic and tactical projects associated with Marketing Services. This position will directly impact the performance of the Marketing function and the businesses supported by achieving targeted business results for all projects, initiatives and work efforts under his/her control. In order to be successful in above activities, the Director will need to establish strong working relationships with Marketing and key business stakeholders. Specifically he/she will need to work collaboratively to understand business needs, translate these needs into specific supplier requirements, and establish target pricing, terms, SLA’s, and success measures. The leader will then need to establish sourcing/negotiating strategies and drive execution and ongoing monitoring efforts to ensure objectives are realized and sustained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Lead development of the Marketing category strategy along with business owner(s)

•Act as a thought leader and participate in strategic planning activities and function as an overall Marketing change agent.

•Analyze key inputs including business needs, volume projections, and market/supply base benchmarks and trends.

•Lead the development of negotiation strategies and drive negotiations for key supplier agreements

•Monitor supplier performance, identify cost reduction opportunities, and create competition

•Manage ongoing supplier relationships to ensure responsiveness and partnering behavior

•Work with cross-functional teams to identify, pursue and capture spend related improvements including make/buy decisions.

•Monitor Category purchasing spend and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

•Negotiate and manage key supplier relationships

•Select and develop a team of procurement professionals, which may include remote personnel, to ensure procurement goals are effectively and efficiently achieved.

Knowledge & Experience:

•Degrees: BA/BS in Finance, Accounting and Business

•MBA and/or Purchasing Certification

•10-15 years leading global procurement organizations encompassing sourcing, supplier management, supplier quality management and procurement execution

•Demonstrated ability to establish goals and build/enhance a global organization to accomplish

•Minimum 5 years proven purchasing experience in Indirect Sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management; commodities/services in Marketing & Events++

•Previous Spend Responsibility: $200+ million

Skills & Ability:

•Ability to understand and address regional cultural and structural business differences.

•Strong experience in the delivery of complex program management, cross-functional business/capability development and change initiatives.

•Ability to work effectively in a team environment – must be collaborative but also must hold their own in articulating and selling best practice procurement approaches.

•Ability to work in fast paced , complex and dynamic environment

•Demonstrated ability to think globally/strategically, turn information into effective strategies and drive results.
