SNC is currently seeking exceptional candidates who wish to be a part of the commercial space revolution. Our fun, fast-paced and collaborative team designs, builds, and flies the Dream Chaser Cargo System, an ambitious flagship program to create our Nation's only commercially reusable space plane. With your help, we will conduct many safe and successful missions over the next decade to deliver critical cargo to and from theInternational Space Station. These flights for NASA will enable us to build an unprecedented commercial spacetransportationnetwork around the Dream Chaser, which provides affordable, cutting-edge orbital capability and return to Earth services onto runways around the globe. Work with Engineers to design and document SNC’s products while following established design and documentation standards

Translate concept drawings, verbal descriptions, and sketches into detailed models and drawings in support of specific program tasks

Efforts will include structural, environmental, and manufacturability considerations, including tolerance evaluation to reduce costs and schedule impact for all design efforts, while ensuring compliance with military and standards or best commercial practices (as appropriate) as well as contractual requirements

Will generate and launch Engineering Change Orders (ECO) with associated documentation into Configuration Management (CM) system


Production floor work cell layout experiencepreferred

Exposure to warehouse layout for efficient operations and material flow is helpful

Large work platform and ground support equipment experience is required

Experience with CAD product data library management as well as configuration management systems is required

Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours

Other duties as assigned


Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)

Requires a BA/BS in Related Field or equivalent work experience is acceptable.

10 + years of related experience

Perfious experience with military contracting and working to MIL and ANSI specifications for both drafting criteria and documentation of design efforts

Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing course (ASME Y14.5M) certification preferred

Must have experience with AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, SolidWorks, or comparable 3D design/drafting package

Proficiency using MS Office and Windows operating systems is required. Experience with web browsers and email applications in and inter/intranet environment is recommended

Must be able to read and use measuring instruments such as machinist scales, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment

The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

The ability to “reverse engineer” an existing part or assembly

The ability to interface with vendors/suppliers on procurement and/or manufacturability of a part
