UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, SR. BUSINESS SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER/ANALYST .
The SR. BUSINESS SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER / ANALYST reports to the Director of Finance Business Systems (FBS) and works directly with UW Medicine Accounting, Finance and IT staff to analyze accounting and financial data and assist in the creation, enhancement and support of financial systems used at UW Medicine.
This person is responsible for acting as the primary FBS staff member to extract and analyze data sets and then use that analysis to correct, improve and extend system automation for FBS customers. The person in this position also provides application configuration and limited technical support for financial systems applications supported by FBS.
Specific functions include:
Programs SQL, VB.NET, VBA, SSIS, C#.NET code for custom financial applications and application interfaces
Writes ETL packages to automate processes
Programs data integrations between applications
Creates data extracts using SQL
Performs data analysis to identify, isolate, and/or correct data
Assists with application support for both custom and vendor financial applications
Builds out and supports Finance and Accounting SharePoint sites
Writes thorough documentation as new processes are created or older ones are modified and stores these in the FBS Documentation repository.
Tracks tasks and project status using FBS standard tools.
Communicates status regularly to management and raises issues or concerns so that they can be addressed.
The overarching mission of this position is to help our Accounting and Finance staff perform their business processes more efficiently by leveraging automation. This involves analyzing customer data and workflows, and subsequently providing valuable data extracts, vendor or custom applications, interfaces and automated workflows to eliminate manual data processing tasks and the associated delays and errors.
Create, improve, and support the automation of business tasks and support both custom and vendor financial applications that are administered by the Finance Business Systems (FBS) team.
Perform significant workflow, business process, data, and application analyses.
Incumbent will spend a significant percentage of his/her time working directly with the customers to identify processes needing automation, identify the appropriate tools to use for this automation and then create the necessary code to build the automation.
Building good relationships with the customers is crucial to success as is the technical ability to build the necessary process automation.
Coordinate with customer and team management, bringing new opportunities to the table, and helping to prioritize these opportunities with current initiatives already scheduled or in flight. Upon approval to move forward, the incumbent will be the primary resource to build the required system, automated process or visualization.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or business administration
5+ years programming data integrations, custom applications and scripts using tools such as VB.NET, C#.NET, SSIS, PowerShell, VBA and MuleSoft
3+ years working with financial systems, preferably Allscripts ERP HEFM/HEMM or another ERP system within the healthcare field.
3+ years of SharePoint development and support experience
3+ years of data analysis experience
3+ years of MS SQL Server experience
2+ years developing reports in SSRS, Crystal Reports, BOE or a similar tool.
2+ years developing and deploying SSIS ETL packages
Strong communication skills in the English language
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with management, end users and IT team members
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
