Purpose of Job
The Business Solutions Expert (BSE) is a senior technical contributor with expertise in analysing and documenting specific business processes. The BSE will interface with all levels of the business to understand current business processes and challenge them by identifying alternatives to the business on process re-engineering.
In addition, the BSE will work closely with our IT clients to gather solution requirements, map business process and facilitate Business and IT collaborations.
The successful candidate will possess full technical knowledge on all phases of systems analysis, while considering the business implications of the application to the current and future business environment. This individual would also be required to create detailed specifications from which technical programs will be written.
The BSE will also be responsible for:
Formulating systems scope and objectives relative to the Bank’s business plan and industry requirements.
Creating and/or modifying procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and the desired needs of the user.
Understands the business from several points of view and aligns IT&S systems and processes to address critical information and automation requirements.
Support highly complex business applications with complex integration needs across multiple technology disciplines.
Formulates and defines information systems scope and objectives based on a thorough understanding of requirements for all business line.
Analyze business processes and document system process specification
Collaborates as the business lead with multiple technology groups and vendors to ensure that applications, integrations, infrastructure and security architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, standards for reliability, scalability, performance and availability and align with Scotia IT&S Technology roadmap.
Participates in all phases of the IT System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Acts as a liaison between developers and business team members. Provides timely project status updates to the Project Manager; identifying/reporting project risks as early as possible and proactively mitigating project risks as identified. Provides expert knowledge of cross-functional and business processes. Requires little management direction and handles extremely complex problems.
Responsible for the successful implementation of business line solutions for projects,
Minimum of 5 + years’ experience in a Senior Business Systems Analysis role
Experience in developing specifications, diagrams and flowcharts, process flows to Developers
Knowledge of application lifecycle management tools Process flows development (considered an asset)
The incumbent should hold a relevant degree and proven IT experience with an emphasis on highly complex systems/business initiatives.
The incumbent must have 10 to 15 years of IT and business industry work experience, which includes at least 3 years of experience in managing teams or projects. Typically requires advanced technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines, technologies, and processes.
Must have expertise in very complex business and technical processes and their implications across the enterprise.
The incumbent must have expertise in project management disciplines/protocols.
Thorough knowledge of Bank processes and major/key business units.
Have experience in creating user training and implementation guides
Participate in defining and recommending technical solutions to meet Business and Technology goals which satisfies legal and regulatory requirements
Excellent elicitation and facilitation sills
Experience in managing / executing end to end software testing
Experience in providing work estimates is considered to be an asset
Experience with JIRA (asset)
