Job Summary:

The Global Security Services (GSS) Senior Compliance Analyst works in support of the GSS Compliance Program by partnering closely with all IT teams and the business to develop processes which ensure that required IT corporate, regulatory, and risk management policies and controls are being adequately adhered to. The GSS Senior Compliance Analyst must analyze risk, working with IT Teams and the business to understand impact, and driving remediation or business acceptance of the risk. The GSS Senior Compliance Analyst defines and communicates compliance requirements related to new and existing installed technology, and will assist in translating compliance requirements into functional specifications. The GSS Senior Compliance Analyst will maintain insight to current industry best practices, and how they can be applied at Markel.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the GSS Compliance Program by working throughout the organization to ensure there is identification, tracking, and prioritization of compliance requirements.
  • Assists in refining and supporting the processes that support corporate, regulatory, and risk management policies and controls.
  • Assists in the management of a centralized risk register to drive development of Security standards and guidelines across the IT organization.
  • Assists in the identification, assessment, escalation and resolution of Security related risks with the organization.
  • Provides support across the IT organization to ensure adherence to IT control framework including development of corrective action plans.
  • Works with application teams to manage expectations and identify impacts to controls and compliance reporting relating to major systems changes and projects. 
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors to coordinate audit timing, control finding remediation and re-testing, and reporting.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to other groups in matters that pertain to Security compliance.
  • Establishes appropriate relationships at all levels within the IT organization to influence and execute strategy/operations.
  • Possesses the ability to assess compliance risks based on business needs.
  • Assists Compliance team in the development of department policies, standards, and procedures to ensure continuous improvements.
  • Assists GSS and IT organizations in the development of standards and procedures to support approved policies.
  • Assists in reviewing the controls and policies of acquired entities based on Markel’s compliance program, performs gap analysis, provides recommendations, and ensures gaps are properly documented and closed.
  • Observes and evaluates industry trends and benchmarks operations against industry standards and assist in making recommendations to GSS/IT Leadership as appropriate.
  • Plays a key role in the development, communication and continued education of the GSS Compliance Program strategy throughout the organization.

  • Experience with JIRA is a plus.

    Education:

  • College degree in Information Systems or a relevant field.
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant general information technology or IT/security compliance experience required.
  • Certifications are a plus.
