In major medical breakthroughs and small acts of kindness and in colleagues who have your back and patients who have your heart. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, our reach is global, and our impact is profound. Join our acclaimed research computing group and discover how your talents can change lives. Yours included.

Members of our community have varying levels of genomics expertise and work on a range of diverse disease areas including rare diseases. The position will support human research with advanced and novel analytical workflows to facilitate discovery and scholarly publications. The ideal candidate should have enthusiasm for developing collaborative relationships and a desire to foster the use of pediatric genomic data in research studies.

Competencies:

  • Effectiveness and comfort in teaching and public speaking
  • A positive attitude and ability to develop productive relationships with pediatric researchers
  • Desire to work and problem solve in a team environment, where staff frequently depend on one another
  • Ability to provide solution-agnostic support by focusing on research requirements and desired outcomes
  • Patience and persistence to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Passion for new technologies and science

In order to qualify you must have:

  • Master's degree or higher in bioinformatics, genomics, or a closely related field, and at least four years' experience in a research environment; or Ph.D. in science, genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science or related, with 2+ years of work experience post-Ph.D.; or similar.
  • Strong background and experience with human genomic data
  • Strong publication record
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of open source bioinformatics software and pipelines to support diverse bioinformatics analyses
  • Proficiency with Python and R required; experience with deep learning, statistics, SQL, scientific workflow tools and/or cloud computing would be a bonus.
