Essential functions

  • Responsible for the development of functional requirements based on user needs, strategic direction and project scope
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of product workflows, personas, interdependencies and potential impact areas within the system
  • Utilizes knowledge of industry trends and incorporating these trends into our products to drive the business
  • Analyzes the potential impact areas within the system while drafting new feature requirements
  • Responsible both strategically and tactically in the role of Product Owner as part of the Agile Scrum development process
  • Effectively utilizes Application Lifecycle Management and prototyping tools for requirement elicitation and documentation
  • Perform reviews in accordance with guidelines to ensure coverage of real world scenarios, users, test data and dependencies on other Sunquest applications and 3rd party products
  • Actively contributes to internal and external meetings and is able to gather required information on the workflows and different users of the system considering the diversity of the client base
  • Leads product and feature demonstrations including client focus groups, internal stakeholder presentations, client application presentations, management presentations and stakeholder training
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulatory standards and Sunquest quality processes
  • Develops and implements process improvement
  • Acts as a role model and mentor to less experienced team members
  • Works with geographically distributed teams
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering principles.
  • Strong understanding of Anatomical Pathology and workflows within an AP Lab.
  • Demonstrated ability to describe workflows and troubleshoot workflow issues
  • Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to understand system level impact
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and easily assimilate new product knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated gravitation to Customer and Customer Solutions
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare workflows

Required Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of at least 5 years of experience in a software engineering environment
  • Experience with software design processes and methodologies including workflow and flowcharting
  • Experience in a software engineering environment
  • Experience with clinical information systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present to clinical and technical specialists
  • Experience with medical devices or healthcare information systems
