Tiffany is researching the application of additive manufacturing (AM) as part of its ongoing innovation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design, carry out, analyze, and present experiments related to scaling-up precious metal additive manufacturing (AM) process from R&D to commercialization
- Utilize analytical, physical testing apparatus and cutting-edge technologies to qualify powders and finished parts for metal AM applications
- Choose and implement appropriate post-sintering treatments to meet Tiffany & Co. (TCO) standards
- Choose and implement appropriate support structure/sintering profile to deliver component requirements via spec tolerance packages
- Lead AM process/materials/research engineers and technicians utilizing best practices
- Maintain appropriate additive manufacturing validation and process records
- Supervise the operability of additive manufacturing laboratory equipment
- Determine equipment and tools needed in order to achieve R&D and commercialization goals
- Work with external partners as TCO subject matter expert
- Support the additive manufacturing processes by applying scientific/quantitative solutions focused on improved manufacturability across all of TCO component/product lines
- Identify and support the implementation of industry best practices in product development (in CAD, redesign and re-engineering, model making, new products)
Qualifications
Required:
- MS in Mechanical Engineering; Materials Engineering; Material Science; or Metallurgy
- 3-5 years of demonstrated R&D and manufacturing experience in Additive Manufacturing technology (powder based eg DMLS, BJ, PBF)
- Demonstrated technical leadership in project management and product development
- Exceptional technical competency in the areas of metal additive manufacturing processes- from powder to post processing
- Able to read technical drawings and analyze complex problems
- CAD, Rapid Prototyping, advanced manufacturing methods experience
- Ability to work in a small team atmosphere
- Experience or training in SPC; DOE
- Fluent with Microsoft Office packages
- Proficient in English (both written and oral)
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both teaching and influencing
Preferred:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering; Materials Engineering; Material Science; or Metallurgy
- Management/project management training or equivalent
- Experience in material inventory management
- Metallurgical experience with precious metals knowledge
