~ Position Overview ~

Sr. Accounting and Tax Specialist

Location: Boston, Massachusetts (Local Candidates Preferred - No Relocation)

Permanent W2 Direct-Hire Position

Salary: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 Base + Benefits

Education: BA/BS Accounting (CPA Preferred)

The client is a privately-owned Investment management and family services provider located in Downtown Boston. This client is seeking an Accounting and Tax Specialist with advanced technical skills in financial accounting, financial reporting and taxes. The selected individual will be exposed to a diversified investment portfolio, including marketable securities, private equity, real estate, and direct investments and will be part of a great team that provides accounting services to family members.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in accounting, reporting and tax related compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA designation preferred
  • Expertise with Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local entity reporting requirements
  • Family office experience is a plus; must thrive in a small, highly professional collaborative group
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements

Position Specific Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting

  • Ability to implement process improvement initiatives and provide support for internal projects
  • Maintain asset and liabilityschedules
  • Oversee the administration of human resource function; payroll, retirement benefits, paid time off benefits, and health benefits
  • Perform treasury function managing accounts and cash across family office entities and trusts, including bank reconciliations
  • Process and approve accounts payable and related documentation

Tax Compliance

  • Compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws
  • Coordinate the collection of all K-1s and issuance of 1099s
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns and other related filings
  • Prepare tax work papers for outside taxaccountants

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and financial statements
  • Financial accounting and reporting for individuals, entities, and trusts
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls including documentation for transactions or transfers
  • Prepare and manage budgets for various individuals and entities
  • Process partnership/LLC capital calls and distributions; maintain internal basis for partnerships/LLCs

Salary

$110K - $130K
