We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for various financial functions within the accounting/finance team. The position will report to the Sr. Manager. Areas of responsibility will include accounting/finance related activities, planning, analysis, reporting, and tax compliance.

Our client is a global manufacturer of chemicals with over 80 years of experience of providing innovative chemical solutions for a cleaner, healthier, more energy efficient world. Their corporate headquarters is in the Northern Suburbs. This is a ?hands-on? position that provides support for the corporate and domestic locations. This individual will interact with cross functional teams throughout the organization, while interacting with the C-level Suite.

Essential duties and responsibilities include: but not limited to the following:

1.      Responsible and or providing support for accounting/finance related activities, but not limited to the following:

o  Timely and quality performance of all monthly financial close activities.

o  Account analyses and reconciliations.

o  Variance analysis, follow-ups and other financial requests.

o  Preparation of journal entries.

o  Process documentation.

o  Support in maintaining compliance with internal controls.

o  Assistance for audit preparations/requests.

o  Other duties assigned.


2.      Active participant in driving departmental process efficiency improvements (Blackline, BPC, SAP efficiency enhancements, etc.) inclusive of design, testing, roll-out and sustainability.


3.      Provide ongoing compliance support for new accounting pronouncements (i.e. Revenue Recognition, Lease Accounting, etc.)


4.      Specifically, responsible for all ongoing Canadian accounting/finance related activities and related support, inclusive of:


o  Timely and quality performance of all monthly financial close activities.

o  Responsible for all account analyses and reconciliations.

o  Responsible for variance analysis and follow-up.

o  Responsible for maintaining compliance with internal controls and ensuring proper segregation of duties.

o  Responsible for completing all quarterly statistical updates required by the government.

o  Responsible for supporting all audit requests (financial and tax)

o  Assist with all other Canadian financial requests.

Qualifications and Skills:

* 5-7 years of experience.

* Bachelor?s degree in Accounting with concentration in Information Systems preferred.

* CPA a plus, but not required.

* Combination of Public Accounting and Manufacturing experience is preferred, not required.

* Strong writing skills.

* Proficient in use of SAP and Microsoft Excel.

* Must be a self-starter and must enjoy challenging opportunities to assist and support the corporate finance team with continuous process and system improvements while sustaining core responsibilities.
