Summary of Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Manager, Accounting with the maintenance of the general ledger and the monthly accounting cycle. This position will assist in ensuring that accounting transactions are properly recorded, processed and posted for accurate presentation of the balance sheet and income statements. The individual should be able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closing process including account analysis, journal entries
  • Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis
  • Maintain Balance Sheet and P&L accounts by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions; and resolving discrepancies
  • Manage fixed assets
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policies
  • Prepare auditschedules for external auditors as needed
  • Prepare required Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation to ensure compliance
  • Assist and prepare certain management or financialreports as needed


Education, Experience & Credentials

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and at least 8 years relevant corporate accounting experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financialreports as well as possess a strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, task prioritization and effective time management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (specifically Excel) and the ability to learn other systems as necessary
  • Customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of SAP
