Speech and Language Pathologist (3.0 FTE) for the 2024-2025 School Year The Exceptional Learners Collaborative (ELC) is seeking licensed applicants for the 2024-2025 school year. The ELC is located in Vernon Hills (Lake County), Illinois; is a special education cooperative providing services to students identified with special needs, ages 3 through 22 years of age. The ELC represents Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96, Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 and Fox Lake District 114. The ELC serves eight elementary schools, four junior high/middle schools and one high school.
Description: As we continue to provide world-class, specialized educational services and supports locally for our exceptional learners in partnership with families and districts, the Speech Language Pathologist will support our students with a variety of needs in a more structured learning environment.
Location: Exceptional Learners Collaborative
Qualifications: - Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed for Speech and Language Pathology
- Ability to travel within the member districts of the ELC.
- Experience with special education students preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for providing diagnostic therapeutic services to students identified with speech/language impairments.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the nature of speech and language disorders including the cognitive aspects of communication (attention, memory, sequencing, problem-solving, executive functioning), social aspects of communication (including challenging behavior, ineffective social skills, lack of communication opportunities), communication modalities (including oral, manual, augmentative, and alternative communication techniques and assistive technologies), the impact of hearing loss on the development of speech and language, second language acquisition and oral motor functioning and skills including feeding.
