Spectral Analyst
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Spectral Analyst to support advanced data interpretation and scientific analysis involving spectral, hyperspectral, multispectral, and remote sensing datasets. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing spectral signatures, identifying material characteristics, interpreting complex datasets, and providing actionable insights to support research, environmental monitoring, defense, geospatial intelligence, energy, agriculture, or commercial applications.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in spectroscopy, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, image processing, and data analytics. This role requires expertise in handling large datasets, applying scientific methodologies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret hyperspectral, multispectral, and spectroscopic datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and material characteristics. Perform spectral signature analysis, classification, target detection, feature extraction, and quantitative assessment of remotely sensed data. Develop and apply analytical methodologies for processing and validating spectral data from satellite, airborne, laboratory, and field-based sensors.
Support environmental monitoring, land use analysis, mineral identification, vegetation assessment, atmospheric studies, defense intelligence, and other scientific applications. Conduct quality assurance and validation of spectral datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability. Generate technical reports, visualizations, and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Collaborate with scientists, engineers, geospatial analysts, and project stakeholders to support research initiatives and operational objectives. Maintain documentation of analytical procedures, methodologies, and project results. Stay current with advancements in spectroscopy, remote sensing technologies, machine learning, and geospatial analytics.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Physics, Geology, Earth Science, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related scientific field. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in spectral analysis, spectroscopy, geospatial intelligence, remote sensing, environmental monitoring, or scientific data analysis.
Experience working with hyperspectral or multispectral imagery and associated analytical techniques. Proficiency in data analysis software and geospatial platforms such as ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS, QGIS, MATLAB, Python, R, or similar tools. Strong understanding of spectral libraries, image processing, classification algorithms, and statistical analysis methods.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver accurate results within established deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline. Experience supporting government, defense, intelligence, environmental, energy, agricultural, or commercial remote sensing programs. Familiarity with machine learning, artificial intelligence, geospatial intelligence workflows, LiDAR, satellite imagery, and cloud-based geospatial analytics platforms.
Experience working with large-scale environmental datasets, predictive modeling, and advanced spectral interpretation techniques. Active security clearance may be advantageous for certain projects.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $95,000 - $140,000 per year
Hourly Rate: $46 - $67 per hour
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, technical expertise, certifications, industry background, and geographic location. Eligible employees may also qualify for annual performance bonuses and additional incentive opportunities.
