VCU Health System's Operating Room is seeking a Specialty Team Manager for the Transplant team who demonstrates a high level of expertise in the Operating Room and in the Clinical subspecialty. Provides direction, education, and leadership to staff at all levels. Delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care. Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders.
Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards. All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice guidelines.
Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources
Organizes work and delegates and supervises others (RN's, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc) in carrying out assignments.
Specialty Team Managers are counted as rotating staff to include weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or as is in the best interest of the work unit.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Current RN licensure in Virginia
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience (in surgical services)
Charge Nurse, Resource Nurse or supervisory experience
Transplant experience (liver, kidney & pancreas)
Certification on specialty area
Academic Health Care experience
Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
