As sales leaders, SSPs are expected to achieve territory sales goals by executing their assigned and approved territory Plan of Action (POA) marketing strategies. This includes delivering brand sales messages, effective product-detailing of the assigned customers, executing planned programs, executing the targeting and call plan expectations and following up with medical education programs and achieving or exceeding sales goal targets.

SSPs are also responsible for collaborating with other field-based team members/Account Managers responsible for servicing and educating the target customer and their practice. The expectation is for the SSP to maintain and nurture professional relationships with the healthcare professionals they target to promote INSYS products and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for attaining sales target goals in the assigned territory through compliant promotion of INSYS’ portfolio of products
  • Ensures effective business and territory planning to effectively cover the assigned call plan and execution metrics
  • Possesses and demonstrates strong business acumen and decision making and can develop a territory POA based on market insights and drivers to positively impact sales within the assigned territory
  • Delivers information relevant and uniquely tailored to each customer through thorough pre-call preparation and post-call planning to maximize customer engagement
  • Responsible for learning and imparting to customers clinical, scientific and technical features of INSYS products and patient support services to maximize appropriate product utilization
  • Applies solutions-oriented approach to targeted customers through effective probing and refined listening techniques to customize solutions based on the specific customer’s needs
  • Must be adaptable to changing market dynamics and demonstrate the ability to adjust business plans to match the changing market conditions
  • Be able to impact market share through coordination and implementation of approved medical education activities and programs
  • Responsible for the achievement of territory growth appropriately through effective collaboration with other INSYS personnel servicing accounts in the same territory
  • Apply and leverage the understanding of managed care market within the territory and utilize the knowledge as an opportunity to affect physicians’ prescribing decision(s)
  • Develop and continually build a high level of clinical knowledge to successfully and appropriately educate healthcare professionals on INSYS products including successfully passing all required exams and product role play certifications
  • Collaborate with other company departments to maximize the appropriate and effective use of product promotional materials
  • Participate in and contribute to sales and marketing meetings, training programs, and conventions as appropriate
  • Responsible for accurate and timely execution of all call reporting requirements and all other administrative-related responsibilities
  • Responsible for timely completion of all training requirements, including Compliance/Ethics and any other required training
  • Demonstrate and be able to employ effective time management techniques in order to achieve sales target goals in the assigned territory; manage educational budget to support approved sales activities
  • Responsible for submitting accurate and timely expense reports as required by the Company policy

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree and 3 years’ experience of Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology sales experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong oral communication skills and verbal command of complex medical terminology in disease-state(s)
  • Three or more years of sales and/or marketing experience in the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare or medical device industries
  • Product or hospital sales experience in the areas of oncology, adjunctive oncologic products, cancer-related pain management, anesthesiology, inflammatory diseases, infectious diseases, rare/orphan disease categories and/or the diseases and treatments involved with these specialties
  • Account management experience in an array of complex health systems (e.g. IDNs, ACOs, Academic Centers, large multi-facility group practices, Federal, etc.)
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy distribution models and Patient Support Services/Programs
  • Local market knowledge and access
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Business related area
  • Must have a demonstrated consistent track record of achieving target sales results
  • Intermediate computer skills required (Windows, Word, and Excel)
  • Prior experience using sales data/call reporting software is desired
