Under the leadership of its new Director, the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (NCCC) has embarked on an ambitious initiative to promote cross-cutting translational research (TR) initiatives. These will include: Setting up new multi-investigator translational accelerator research projects; cataloging and advancing promising drug and biomarker candidates at NCCC; promoting TR synergies through mini-symposia bridging NCCC investigators with one another and with colleagues at other USC schools and departments; developing high impact facilities that support TR (e.g. biospecimen repositories and work flows); promoting biopharma synergies in clinical and preclinical research settings. These initiatives are directed by Dr. Amir Goldkorn, the NCCC Associate Director for Translational Research, who reports in this role to Dr. Caryn Lerman, the NCCC Director. The new TR Manager will report to Dr. Goldkorn and work closely with him to organize and manage the TR initiatives in his research program and throughout the cancer center.

Advancing these projects will involve ongoing meetings with investigators at NCCC and USC, drafting written program and grant descriptions, and organizing, cataloging and presenting ongoing TR efforts, as well as directly conducting some of the research projects under Dr. Goldkorn's supervision. Given this scope of responsibilities, the successful candidate would have Ph.D. and postdoctoral level education and training in the basic biological sciences, advanced laboratory research skills, and at least 5 years' work experience in large academic center settings focused on translational cancer research spanning the clinic to the laboratory. These should include working knowledge of next gen sequencing workflows and online databases. Background in precision cancer medicine, clinical trial cohorts, and interactions with biopharma industry are preferred. Outstanding language and writing abilities and organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates possessing these skills and an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit are encouraged to apply.
