Chanel, Inc., a leader in the luxury goods industry, seeks a Legal Counsel – Internet Enforcement for its New York office to work directly on the Chanel Internet anti-counterfeit program. The desired candidate must be knowledgeable about intellectual property law, particularly trademark law. To succeed in the position, the candidate should be very detail oriented, highly organized, an excellent writer and communicator, technologically sophisticated and is comfortable dealing with large amounts of data. Further, the candidate should be a creative problem solver and have an "outside the box" approach to issues. The ideal candidate will be well versed and comfortable with Internet research, social media platforms, on-line marketplaces as well as basic tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in legal drafting highly preferred.


- Prepare, review and modify legal documents

- Liaise with outside counsel on large litigation matters

- Support litigation (produce exhibits, declarations and other supporting documents)

- Research current targets, sweeping for new targets

- Draft various legal letters (cease and desist etc.)

- Conduct Internet compliance checks

- In depth Internet research

- Coordinate with investigators and other vendors/agents

- Negotiate with platforms/other third parties

- Monitor websites, market places and social networking platforms, conducting notice and takedown on counterfeit listings

- Liaise with Global Internet team

- Evidence processing

- Data entry and file creation and maintenance

- Comfortable with ambiguity and creative problem solving

- Advocacy

- Report figures and activity to US and Global structure


US law degree, bar admitted (New York preferred)

High level of Internet literacy

Excellent communicator

Creative, proactive and thorough

Team player with ability to work with US and Global teams

1-3 years of experience (in-house or from a top-tier law firm)
