Overview

The Specialist for Food and Product safety will Lead the strategy for chain-wide restaurant food safety operations including the creation of solutions to lower the risk around the restaurant food safety 5 (Health and Hygiene, Contamination, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Management, and Time and Temperature Control).

Responsibilities

  • Chain-wide Restaurant food safety risk assessment and mitigation
  • Lead the research and development for the maintenance and building of food safety systems for restaurants
  • Develop standards for cleaning and sanitation for restaurants including the oversight of all chemicals used within the restaurant
  • Collaborate with internal departments as new situations arise requiring new or revised procedures
  • Manage the content of the Integrated Pest Management System (IPMS) including the relationship with pest control service providers
  • Manages relationships across industry, academia, government, the support center, and Owner/Operators to optimize solutions
  • Manage the internal relationships with other departments to ensure food safety systems are implemented and food safety culture is enhanced

Minimum Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Science or Engineering or extensive restaurant experience in a food safety role

·         Minimum of 5 years of work experience involving project management (Food Service experiencepreferred)

·         Strong business acumen (financial statement analysis, financialforecasting, basic accounting, marketing)

·         Ability to work in a technical area  (be detail orientated) as well as with customers and in supplier environments

·         Demonstration of leadership skills and ability to influence change

·         Willingness to travel (20-40%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science such as: Food Science, Biochemistry, Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Chemistry, Biology or extensive restaurant experience in a food safety role
  • Advanced degree in business (MBA)
