Job Description:

The EDA Designer will effectively utilize EDA tools deployed at L3Harris to create schematic symbols and decals for Printed Circuit Board mounted electronic components utilized on PCB assemblies in new and existing products. Software tools include:

• Mentor PADS Layout
• Mentor PADS Designer
• CREO
• AutoCAD

Create and revise related PCB component information in accordance with established L3Harris and IPC industry guidelines. Interface directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to obtain information about requirements. Incorporate change notices utilizing existing CAD tools. Check designs, drawings, and databases for accuracy. Incorporate change notices utilizing existing CAD tools.

Work Preparation:

• Create and maintain schematic symbols for Electrical CAD (ECAD) library from component vendor data sheets for importing into the schematic capture tool.
• Create and maintain copper pad footprints, solder mask and solder paste patterns for ECAD library from component vendor data sheets, IPC standards, and internal L3Harris design guidelines.
• Create and maintain ECAD footprints for use by mechanical engineering.
• Ensure all requirements for fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly are met.
• Review drawings and data sheets for dimensional requirements

Validate part footprints based on manufacturer's technical reference and L3Harris design rules

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in ECAD libraries, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in ECAD libraries is required. An Associate or Engineering Degree in Graphics Technology or Engineering Technology is desired.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ECAD programs/software applications and related equipment. Specific experience with Mentor Designer, PADS Layout, and CREO software is desirable.
• Knowledge of and experience with electrical components, component vendor data sheets, and electrical schematics.
• General knowledge of industry standards such as IPC for design and ASME/ANSI for documentation.
• Knowledge of SMT and through-hole electronic components and packages
• Excellent attention to detail
• Knowledge of working with a PLM tool like Agile
• Working knowledge of PC based applications and network environments
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Adaptable to a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and people
