Job Description:

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), is seeking a Spacecraft Communications Antenna Design Engineer for the Electrical Systems Engineering Services III (ESES III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

The ESES III contract is tasked with providing a broad range of engineering and related services to the GSFC Electrical Engineering Directorate for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration,testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies in support of NASA’s current and future space flight and ground system projects.

The successful candidate will provide support to the Wide Field Infrared Space Telescope (WFIRST) and Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) projects as well as other projects in the Earth Sciences field in the design and testing of spacecraft communications antennas.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in antenna theory and a minimum of 10 years of experience in spacecraft antenna design and testing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in designing shaped reflector antennas and feed horns for space applications.
  • Experience in designing antennas utilizing frequency selective surfaces.
  • Experience in conducting near-field measurements.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to pass a Government background investigation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in phased array antenna design is a plus.
  • Project management skills such as schedule generation/tracking, proposal writing, and small group coordination is a plus.
