Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Space Technology Analyst (level 2) /Senior Space Technology Analyst (level 3) to provide on-site support to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Space Threat Assessment Cell (STAC). In this dynamic position you will be developing and implementing analytic methods to monitor, assess, and forecast space / space-related threattechnologies.  This position directly supports the ODNI STAC’s mission to provide threat analysis and evaluation support to Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) space-acquisition customers. We are looking for someone who is or strives to be a subject matter expert and focal point for technical issues regarding space threat intelligence

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Support the STAC in establishing, implementing, and leading a technologyforecasting program
  • Develop innovative analytic and technical methods to forecast international space-related weapon technologies 
  • Interface with goverment, academia and the broader space community on space and counterspace technologies
  • Plan and prepare written deliverables on technology topics (Space threat, foreign technology, etc.) for the customer and possibly for conferences or symposiums 
  • Work within a diverse community of, engineering, intelligence, and S&T experts comprised of government civilians and contractors
  • Reach back to find and employ Aerospace technical expertise as needed to meet STAC’s unique mission needs
  • Interface with senior customers and partner with individuals in multiple government agencies and in senior-level working group environments


Work will be performed around the Northern Virginia/DC area with primarily location being Reston, VA. 

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, math/statistics, economics or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution

  • Current TS/SSBI

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

For the Space Technology Analyst position (Level 2)

  • A minimum of 8years of experience
  • Exposure to and an understanding in one or more of the following areas: weapons technologies, national security space systems, technologyforecasting methods, or technology research and development 
  • Basic knowledge of current and evolving threats to US space systems
  • Strong initiative along with excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be able to travel out of the area (5-10% of time)
  • Prefer applicant with active or recently inactive SSBI. If applicant does not have an SSBI, applicant may still be considered; however, applicant must be willing to submit to and pass an SSBI and polygraph to remain eligible for this position
  • This position requires the ability to maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

 

For the Senior Space Technology Analyst position (Level 3)

  • A minimum of 12-years of experience
  • Experience in increasingly responsible space, defense, intelligence or equivalent technology assessment-related positions
  • Exposure to and an understanding in two or more of the following areas: weapons technologies, national security space systems, technologyforecasting methods, or technology research and development 
  • Basic knowledge of current and evolving threats to US space systems
  • Strong initiative and technical leadership along with excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be able to travel out of the area (5-10% of time)
  • Prefer applicant with active or recently inactive SSBI. If applicant does not have an SSBI, applicant may still be considered; however, applicant must be willing to submit to and pass an SSBI and polygraph to remain eligible for this position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or math
  • Demonstratedexperience inoneor more of the following areas:
    • technology research and development,
    • technology maturity assessments,
    • space system development,
    • space protection
  • In-depth technical knowledge in the technologies used in oneor more of the following areas:
    • spacecraft launch/missile systems,
    • space systems,
    • optical systems,
    • radio frequency systems,
    • space ground systems
  • Prior work experience or extensive knowledge in international space programs, commercial space industry, or government space programs
  • An advanced understanding of current and evolving threats to US space systems
