The client: An established consumer products company that is engaged in the design, sourcing and marketing of a diverse line of products that are sold into nationwide retailchannels under a proprietary brand. This position has been created to support one of the company’s growing divisions. Key customers include Amazon, Staples, Wal-Mart, Target, Office Depot and Wayfair. The company sells direct to consumer, as well as shipping orders that originate with the customers’ e-commercechannels, along with traditional shipping to customer stores.
The position: The Sourcing Manager reports to the Division President and is responsible for identifying and sourcing the best product suppliers for specified segments of the business, negotiating and contracting production based on predetermined specifications and ensuring on time delivery of quality products by effectively managing all production activities. The company has an office in Asia that supports quality and logistics requirements.
· Research, identify, source and negotiate all components of the product, to include pricing and the issuance of commitments and contracts. Identify new products to add to the assortment based on a costing formula.
· Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships and ensure all suppliers meet overall quality standards.
· Maximize the gross margin plan of specified classifications by assuring target costs are met, quality is maintained, deliveries are on time and claims are minimized.
QUALIFICATIONS include extensive overseas travel to factories, particularly Asia/ Far East and 7-10 years’ experience in hardlines consumer products sourcing.
