Position Overview

Manages a team of procurement professionals in the acquisition of both direct and indirect materials necessary for the effective and optimum operation of the business. Leads the negotiation of pricing, lead times, and appropriate order quantities for these materials including major and minor capital equipment purchases. Establishes performance metrics for the team and directs team members in the allocation of resources to assist the manufacturing sites, PLBT's, corporate sourcing, finance, and other teams relative to direct and indirect material needs and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direction and participation in the procurement process for a wide variety and grouping of raw materials, components, purchase for resale products, and services.
  • Responsible for the performance of the group in meeting departmental objectives.
  • Establishes performance standards and measurements, defines policies, procedures, and practices to be used by the team in the measurement of goals and objectives.
  • Acts as an active participant in the procurement processing function, managing key suppliers and heng knowledgeable of existing, and developing new, supplier relationships.
  • Responsible for assigning tasks and distributing work among the team. Seeks continuous improvement and researches best practices for potential use within the team and/or organization.
  • Reviews employee performance, establishes and identifies employee development plans, and is responsible for encouraging continued progress in enhancing the commodity team skill set on an individual and collective basis.
  • Communicates and coordinates One Hubbell activities for the team and establishes local goals related to wider Hubbell objectives for commodity management.
  • Negotiates and manages the supplier side of capital projects greater than $50k, and mentors the appropriate procurement resource relative to negotiation and management of supply side of capital projects less than $50k.
  • Directly supervises up to five procurement professionals.
  • Establishes recommendations for supplier enhancement, termination, and new supplier development.

Skills and Experience

Six to ten years experience in either operations, supply chain, or procurement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
