Position: Solutions Engineer - Data center and managed hosting

Salary: $130-150k base

Bonus: $50-60k annually + Excellent benefits

Location: Somerville, MA 02144 - flex hours in office, some remote

Company: Our client is a high-performance Internet infrastructure company that blends virtual and bare-metal cloud, hosting and colocation services across a global network of data centers. The company is fast paced, working with cutting edge technology, and provides ample room for career advancement.

Position Summary: We are looking for a Solutions Engineer (SE) for the New England region who can be a vital part of the sales process, partnering with Account Executives and customers to create solutions to networkinfrastructure needs. The SE will engage fully with sales opportunities as uncovered by Sales team and provide a strong technical acumen that complements the SE’s individual ability to sell.

The SE will place constant attention on identifying additional/new business with each interaction with the prospect or customer. Each SE works with multiple Account Executives simultaneously and must multi task on basic responsibilities while prioritizing time spent with sales and SE management. This requires strong organization, excellent time management as well as the ability to manage internal resources that are vital to closing and successfully implementing new business.

Areas of Expertise:

Cloud/Managed Hosting: Network, computing, virtualization and storage technologies, plus a high level understanding of compliance (PCI, HIPPA, GLB, Etc.), Business Continuity, Security, and common business middleware and application stacks as established by the National Institute of Standards (NIST). This includes an industry understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS as well as Cloud Computing.

Colocation: Power, cooling, structured wiring, and other environmental needs associated with a client’s data center needs.

Performance IP: Internet site performance including acceleration, flow control, and route optimization. Includes IP addressing, DNS and registry.

Managed Services:  Managed server, security, storage, backup and network services.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft/Linux Servers, VMware, and NetApp or Nimble Storage is strongly desired.
