The Solution Architect is responsible for all Architecture and strategy related to Technology platforms.

The platforms cover applications and technology built around (Web and Mobile applications), BI (business intelligence) and integration and API’s.

The Solution Architect is responsible for all solutions and application design, development, implementation and support of business solutions using various technologies including web, mobile, cloud, and open source.

The Solution Architect should possess a demonstrated breadth of knowledge across various enterprise solutions/ technology stacks and ability to provide guidance to diverse stakeholders and external vendors.. To thrive in this role, you will need to be very organized, high aptitude in problem solving, and excellent communication and customer service skills.  

In addition, the person will be required to work closely with senior business stakeholders, providing thought leadership and participating with the executive operations teams in corporate activities and decision making


·       Work with the CTO to set the technology strategy and select technology to be used within the platform ecosystem

·       Design/application and build standards

·       Increased quality of methodology execution

·       Conduct architectural and engineering review of proposed IT investments/solutions to determine the strategic alignment and technical soundness.

·       Provide technical recommendations to senior executives to assist the decisions on proposed IT investments/solutions.

·       Offer expert advice on application solutions including assisting with planning and architectural design, development, and resolution of technical issues

·       Develop and improve guidelines and criteria for the review of proposed IT solutions

·       Supportrisk identification and mitigation process and provide issue management recommendations as required

·       Manage escalations, change controls and risks across all levels and parties

·       Implement, refine and improve structure and process and help to create quality standards and documentation

·       Help to define best practices for team coordination, including communication patterns and division of responsibility

·       Developing , defining and maintaining technologyproduct roadmaps 

·       Manage key relationships with Head of Operations, IT Vendors, IT Team, Business Teams

·       Aide in establishing and implementing short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures


·       Responsible for ensuring that functional requirements are aligned with solution deliverables

·       Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects

·       Ensuring all IT systems, services and staff can meet the needs the current needs of the growing business and its clients, internal and external

·       Ensure all IT SLA’s are met and no customer penalties are incurred

·       Execute all deliverables within aligned delivery model

·       Derive optimal performance from available systems, infrastructure and staff

·       Ensure IT projects (included the IT components of other projects) are delivered on time and in budget

·       Manage local and Platform IT resources including vendors and contracts

·       Ensure all IT systems and operations are consistent with IT standards

·       Provide regular reporting on the activities and performance of IT systems, services and staff

·       Interact with local business units, franchise owners and area representative, IT Vendors and internal IT leaders and customer resources related to tracking and resolution of internal and external operational issues on a regular basis

·       Ensure work/tasks assigned are completed on budget and with defined timeframes

·       Staff management of resources directly assigned as your responsibility for performance, reviews and general well being

·       Develop, define and deliver release management procedures, structure and operation

·       Ensure that IT solutions incorporate defined training plans, systems documentation and support requirements

·       Assist with Annual Budgeting as well as forecasting processes for IT

·       Be involved in or co-ordinate discussions/negotiations with third party suppliers as dictated by deliverable requirements


Innovation & Strategy

·       Effective communication of IT directions, capabilities, initiatives and innovations to the other members of the leadership team

·       Alignment with IT peers to ensure a team based delivery culture across shared resource pools

·       Provide guidance on new tools, approaches, methods and features, leading technical solution team on implementation as required

·       Assist in the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for initiatives

·       Analyze existing systems and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of these systems

·       Explore new technologies and present findings

·       Responsible for quality provision of Innovation, project delivery, maintenance and operation support aspects of portfolio against defined system SLAs

Budget/Financial P&L / Contractual negotiation responsibilities

·       Be involved in or co-ordinate discussions/negotiations with third party suppliers as dictated by deliverable requirements

·       Assist with developing yearly budgets within the IT department

·       Aid in the development of productivity measures and costing strategies

·       Assist the Platform CIO with Annual Budgeting as well as forecasting processes for IT

·       Be involved in or co-ordinate discussions/negotiations with third party suppliers as dictated by deliverable requirements

·       Tertiary degree, preferably in IT

·       Fitness/Healthcareexperience, preferably – Not mandatory

·       Strong Technical knowledge related to Mobile Application, Web Applications, Enterprise Applications, POS applications and databases design

·       Strong technical knowledge of web based software and architecture

·       Minimum of 5 years of management/ leadership experience in a software development organization required

·       Must have at least 5 years’ experience working through the design, development, release cycle delivering software to market

·       Large/ enterprise application development experiencepreferred (Application based)

·       Strong understanding of the software development cycle - including waterfall and Agile

·       Project Management experience

·       Application experience in multiple technologies that cover – Database (SQL and MySQL preferred), Database Design, Reporting (Domo is preferable), Integration

·       Wide ranging experience with information technology computer systems, software applications, and communication platforms

·       Proven experience in SDLC and/or software support realms of responsibility

·       Demonstrated ability to “thought” lead and implement change

·       Demonstrated experience in managing business expectation and delivering support solutions

·       Staff management

·       Customer facing within a service environment
