The Federal Solutions Architect acts as the subject matter expert for Trend Micro's enterprise products in the US Federal Government sector. Help guide and advise Federal customers and prospects in the selection and architecture of Trend Micro solutions to match identified business needs or gaps. Provide technical information and support to Federal Account Managers to develop strategic revenue opportunities with Federal customers. Take joint ownership of assigned accounts with Account Management to provide leadership on security architecture, application and functionality matches, technical specifications and standards matching, and resource allocation. Develop strategies with customers to anticipate and address long-term business needs and identify appropriate solutions. Be the trusted advisor to customers and prospects by developing an understanding of customer needs, risks and tolerance, and technology gaps and implementation. May be called upon to provide technical information or lead for difficult, sensitive or critically important accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Federal Solution Architect drives customers' technical engagements from the pre-sales phase to deployment phase. This includes:

  • Designing solution and high level architectures
  • Providing consultative product and solution expertise
  • Demonstrating and explaining product functionality
  • Delivering training and consulting on best practices
  • Installing and configuring Trend Micro solutions
  • Defining and managing proofs of concept in customer environments for Trend Micro solutions
  • Identifying system integration requirements and working with Trend Micro professional services and / or outside system integrator partners to deliver integration solutions
  • Establishing and maintaining a strong and trusted relationships with customers and partners
  • Collaborating with product application development teams to identify and realize technical improvements to the product, particularly focused on representing Federal targeted needs
  • Working with company technical support personnel to ensure ongoing quality support of support and customer health
  • Contribute to departmental best practices, strategies, methodologies and documentation for increased efficiencies.


  • Strong IP networking solution knowledge and skill set (e.g. Cisco CCNA, CCNP or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise security technologies
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
  • Strong communication ability through all organization levels from Senior Executives through System Admins.
  • BS or Master's degree preferred

Experience Required

  • 7+ years experience in Sales Engineering and/or professional services experience required
  • 5+ years experience with Microsoft Windows, and UNIX (Solaris, Linux) Operating Systems
  • 5+ years experience in computer software or systems including security products (firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection, content security)
  • 5+ years experience in networking hardware environments
  • 3+ years experience in operation centers environment or selling to networking and/or security operation centers
  • 5+ years experience preferred in or selling to the US Federal government or public sector or organizations which support these areas through government or public sector contracts
