The Solution Support Engineer (SSE) is the trusted advisor and support professional for the Anixter Global Solutions Business. We are the first tier of support in all of our technologies. We are technical advisors to Network and Security Solutions (NSS), Global/National Security Integrators (GNSI), Electrical & Electronic Solutions (EES) and Utility Power Solutions (UPS) sales organizations, the SSE also supports the Corporate marketing group and Supplier relations group as Subject Matter Experts.

The majority of the SSE's time is spent from the desk working virtually with worldwide Anixter customers through our rep organization. Number one deliverable for the Sse's consists of Technology Solution Engineering, sourcing the right bill of materials matching the customers needs. Being logged into the Technology Support Phone System or engaging opportunities through the Solutions Support Shared Email Box. The Engineer will work with the sales representative to determine the best course of action to arrive at the correct solution. We will review RFP's, create BOM's, answer technical questions and create Technical Visio Project Drawings. We will also hold 3 way conversations with customers to discover what other opportunities may exist and position Anixter to be the customer go to resource for all projects. We are also fully engaged in support of the Anixter University program and performing customer on site evaluation visits when needed.

The SSE will report to the Global Director of Technology. The SSE will be assigned a primary and two back up technology roles that will be fully supported by the Global Vendor Training Initiative. The roles will be assigned and managed by the Director. In this role, we will support all sales people from all of Anixter's global divisions.

The Charter of the SSE:

  1. Deliver credibility and value to our customers in the education and positioning of solutions for (Data Center/ Infrastructure & Security) in both Enterprise and Industrial markets.
  2. Provide world class support to the full Sales organization. Positioning Anixter to win for all opportunities. To work closely with sales and key Suppliers to build effective solutions that meet customer expectations and future needs. To educate sales and customers of all the key areas we support in an effort to get wide and deep in all customer engagements.
  3. Evaluate each project opportunity and estimate the resources required to fulfill. To escalate projects to the 2nd tier Advanced Technology Support Engineer (ATS) when a project is more complex, strategic or Global in the requirements. To work closely with ATS to help team up on deliverables and research to meet customer time lines and expectations.
  4. Global support of all sales. The SSE will engage any sales opportunity or support request from any Country, Region or Area. We have specialists in all technologies that can be pulled into any project anywhere as the need arises.
  5. Educated and prepared to support the latest technology or newest vendors. The SSE will be required to support the Global Training program in both a Trainer and participant role. The SSE team will provide SME Technology based training and participate in TAP/TSP vendor monthly training opportunities. Ensuring that we are fully able to support project requests on any and all technologies that Anixter offers. We will also help sales identify and position Supply Chain Solutions to help NSS, GNSI, EES and UPS maximize impact and minimize conflict when servicing these opportunities.


  1. Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or commensurate years of experience
  2. Minimum of four (5) years of experience in a technology support role
  3. Good interpersonal skills and high-energy personality
  4. Independent and self starter with the ability to work remotely
  5. Must be able to work in a call center virtual environment with telepresence
  6. Experienced in designing systems in (primary) Data Center/Infrastructure/Power Conditioning & (Secondly) Video, Access Control and Fire Alarm.
