Lead a design/development innovative cable & connectivity engineering solutionsbased team. You will work directly with engineers & customers to help define, design, and support the execution of engineering solutions to Winchester Interconnect volume production. Develop conceptual 3D/2D Models/drawings, illustrations, and presentations as required to support sales.
Lead a team of engineers & various customers to identify needs, specify requirements, define project scope, and design candidate engineering solutions for Winchester Interconnect customers.
Develop prototypes and concepts in support of initial customer needs.
Design review to meet all of the necessary performance specifications while being cost effective.
Lead engineering design and development activities; may include project coordination, concept development, scheduling, budgeting, hardware design, mechanical fixture design, design reviews, product qualification, maintenance of records, and other activities as needed.
Develop final product/component design drawings. Work with sourcing and suppliers to resolve any design related performance concerns or issues.
Produce customer and standard product drawings/specifications.
Develop complex electro-mechanical software models, tests, functional/reliability tests, analysis, and evaluations on Winchester Interconnect connectivity products.
Create appropriate product extensions and follow on products as requiredsupporting on-going customer needs, customer changes, and product quality.
Must coordinate development activities with various teams, including product development, manufacturing, Sales/marketing, quality, etc.
Engage with customers to co-develop innovative, cost effective, reliable engineering solutions utilizing Winchester’s capabilities, on time and right first time.
Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and requirements to evaluate the feasibility, costs, and manufacturability. Propose alternative ideas and concepts if applicable.
Assist sales, sourcing, and purchasing on customer quotations to build the business case
Lead, initiate and manage engineering projects schedules through final production releaseworking withinternal cross teams.
Assist and contribute to the creation of customer proposals, which will include fully describing scope, schedules, materials, resources, and pricing for the customer.
Instruct and support operations during the first article build process.
Participate in the final validation and approval process.
Review all related documentation for production release.
Maintain compliance for all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
Identify highest impact opportunities to improve engineering processes, utilization and efficiencies, and drive improvements to completion and validated financial impact.
Identify highest impact opportunities to improve overall quality in terms of product produced, and reduction of raw materials process losses, and drive improvements to completion and validated financial impact.
Education:Bachelor of Science engineering degree – Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, from an accredited college or university achieving a 3.0+ GPA preferred or equivalent industry experience.
Experience: 10+ years hands-on product design & development experience in manufacturing environment.
At least 3+ years of leadership experience in managing people & technical projects.
Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills to drive and motivate teams to set priorities, goals and deadlines.
Experience in Bulk Cable & Connectivity designs & solutions.
Support extrusion process utilizing PVC, TPE, TPU, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers and Cross-Linked Polyethylene over copper wire gauges
Fluent in Solidworks 3D/2D or any other CAD design software package is required.
Hands on design experience with wire/cabling, sheet-metal, copper-alloy, die-casting, injection molding & over molding.
Experience in GD&T, DFM & DFMEA.
Knowledge of Regulatory requirements and their impact on process requirements. (UL, CSA, RoHS etc.).
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce detailed engineering documents, presentations and reports.
Strong oral and written proficiency is required.
Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and ability to work effectively with others to urgently address issues.
Strong ability to positively lead others through change.
Self-motivated and strong project leadership skills.
Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and demonstrate proficiency, and expert understanding of the following technologies IoT, LiDAR, EV Charging, Robotics etc.
Material science experience a plus
