Solar Quality Manager

Field Operations — Phoenix, Arizona

Responsibilities:

  • Engagement with McCarthy’s Solar preconstruction and estimating teams to evaluate systems and provide feedback during the design phase through project buyout
  • Ensure the project is built within the requirements of the contract drawings, manufacturer specifications, owner agreement and other applicable contract documents and assure that our projects comply with applicable local, state and federal codes
  • Works in conjunction with the Regional Quality Director, Solar Project Directors, Solar Project Managers and Field teams to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion
  • Assists project teams in development of Site Specific Quality Program for all Solar projects through pre-mortem exercise and lessons learned
  • Play an active role in mockup construction including understanding manufacturer installation procedures
  • Travel to project sites as often as necessary and meet with project teams during the site visit. Document any required follow-up, concerns, best practices or innovations noted during the site visit. Assist with productivity improvements and methodology for increased focus and discipline for ongoing installation
  • Provide weekly updates to Regional Quality Director and meet to discuss on a weekly or bi-weekly basis as deemed necessary
  • Evaluate and review all Solar related quality incidents in Knowledge Builder and work with the project team for submittal of all solar quality incidents and root cause assessments
  • Sharing best practices amongst regional and national solar projects, including Standard Work Procedures
  • Responsible for managing the Solar Community page on the Knowledge Builder
  • Work alongside Solar Warranty Manager to alleviate warranty issues
  • Must understand civil plans and environmental issues of solar projects and assist the project team in the project planning
  • Assist Regional Quality Director and Management in preparation of claims as needed. Interact with clients as necessary to ensure client quality concerns are properly addressed; lead project team to close out quality concerns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or 7 consecutive years in construction or quality management
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience on Solar projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in developing Quality Control Plans for solar projects
