PPT Solutions is currently looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our team supporting a large agile software development and modernization project providing Independent Verification, Validation and Testing (IVV&T) services from proof of concept phase through production and maintenance to ensure products and developments are ready for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) production environment. This candidate will provide support in conducting manual and functional testing. Integration interface test plans and estimates, automated test development and executing of automated and other service test scripts, and reporting/tracking defects within JIRA and other tools.

Description of Responsibilities for the Software Test Engineer:
The Software Test Engineer candidate will support CBP and will work closely with the Test Lead and Manager to ensure work is consistent with the methodologies and established test approaches of the team.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop/utilize test plans/scripts for assigned projects
  • Perform application testing to ensure program changes are functional and follow established standards
  • Work with Test Automation Engineers to help design test harness and test data to develop automated test scripts
  • Create and maintain scripts for the Automation Library
  • Work with developers, business analysts, and end user groups to identify / resolve issues with system changes
  • Test new and legacy custom applications, create formal test cases, strong testing and script writing capabilities
  • Assist the development team in debugging and reproducing reported issues
  • Gain and maintain familiarity with all operating environments
  • Work in collaboration with the customer and other contractors to ensure that testing is completed in a timely manner
  • Provide status to Program Management during regular meetings

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for the Software Test Engineer:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years of strong software quality assurance and testing experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with test automation and automation scripts
  • At least 3 years of experience creating test scrips and testing (VB script, JavaScript)
  • At least 3 years of direct experience using HP Quality Center or HP ALM for test management, test case management and defect management
  • At least 3 years of direct experience running HP UFT or QTP
  • At least 3 years of experience with Selenium
  • Must have Load Runner experience
  • Familiar with 508 Application and Test Processes
  • Must be a self-motivated individual and a team player
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to find the root cause of issues highly preferred
  • Strong time management skills as product needs to be released to production on a timely basis
  • Strong background and experience in planning, documenting, and reviewing test cases/suites
  • Must have experience with manual functional and regression testing
  • Ability to collaborate with the team
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools and approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed
  • US Citizenship and ability to pass a government background investigation

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for the Software Test Engineer:

  • DHS' Active EOD/BI or Suitability
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Knowledge and understanding of CBP mainframe security and its application to TECS Portal
  • Experience with HP Sprinter a huge plus
  • DHS Office of Accessible Systems and Technology (OAST) 508 testing certification (Must obtain with 90 days)
  • Familiarity in the QAX and eAPIS environments and for maintaining group Userids.UI 2.5, BusinessObjects XI R3, Crystal Xcelsius, Informatica PowerCenter 8.6.1, webMethods 8
  • Passion of continued learning and motivation to improve the quality of product is preferred
  • Knowledge of DHS IT policies and procedures
  • Experience at Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
