Job Description

The SVB Software Test Engineer is responsible for the testing of application products and services to assure. This associate is responsible for the day-to-day test execution for a variety of digitalbanking applications as part of web UI, mobile and ancillary devices.

  • Responsible for all Testing activities and artifacts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviews project and application requirements as needed for analysis and creation of formal test documentation including project test strategy, plans, cases, defects and reports.
  • Responsible for assuring adherence to Enterprise Software Delivery Methodology
  • Manage test data as input into test execution
  • Validate test results and record defects
  • Coordinate and plan test runs
  • Provide traceability between requirements and test assets
  • Research, prioritize, and manage defect reports and resolution activities
  • Manages and validates multiple environments to assure test worthiness
  • Contributes project estimates across various lifecycle stages for all test types involved in a project. Works with team members Tracks estimates vs actuals for continuous improvement.
  • Develops expert knowledge of the software under test and any other software products related to the software under test needed for accurate test development and execution
  • Become familiar with the software under test and any other software related to it
  • Understand the master test strategy and plan for each application assigned
  • Generate test cases based on the requirements and other documents
  • Procure or create test data required for testing
  • Test software releases by executing assigned tests (manual and/ or automated)
  • Report defects
  • Reply to returned defect reports (for example, when a defect report is returned as not reproducible)
  • Re-test resolved defects
  • Update test cases based on the discovered defects
  • Update test automation based on the updated test cases
  • Provide inputs to the team in order to improve the test process
  • Log own time in the project management software or time tracking system
  • Report work progress and any problems faced to the Test Lead and/or Project Manager as required
  • Support the team with testing tasks as required
  • Responsible for keeping own skills and knowledge up-to-date on the overview of the development technology, the popular testing tools (e.g. automated testing tools and test management systems) and the overview of the business domain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or minimum 3 years’ experience as a test analyst including smoke testing, functional testing, regression testing, system integration testing, and UAT practices
  • Proven knowledge of software testing methodologies and practices
  • Excellent knowledge of testing methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and Iterative SDLCs
  • Excellent client relationship management skills required
  • Experience with defect and test case documentation tools required (e.g. ALM, JIRA)
  • Experience with web application and mobile testing required
  • Experience with web services / APIs preferred
  • Experience with SQL queries preferred.
