We are looking for a highly driven and talented software tester to join our growing array product development group. The array product development team creates new platform technologies to support the healthy screening (human and agricultural) and direct to consumer markets. In this role, you will be responsible for testing software designed to assist Illumina's customers in executing array workflows and leveraging laboratory instrumentation. This will include testing of complex workflows and user interfaces, with a focus on automated testing of interfaces with external systems, such as instrument control software, databases, and other information management systems.


  • Perform application and service testing using automated testing techniques
  • Develop and execute automated tests for desktop applications, web applications and API suites
  • Design, improve and execute software verification test cases
  • Work with scientists, technicians, engineers, marketing and project management to deliver commercial and internal software systems
  • Carefully analyze and report test results
  • Lead validation of internal software testing tools
  • Provide technical assistance to production issues escalated from customer support
  • Produce SDLC documentation of test plan and execution
  • Communicate verbal and written status updates towards project goals


  • 2+ years development experience in at least one programming or scripting language, such as C#, Python, or Go
  • 1+ years' experience working in software quality assurance and/or other areas of the SDLC to test web or local applications, including both front and back end
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux OS, including system administration and configuration
  • Experience authoring automated web tests using frameworks and tools, such as Test Studio or Selenium
  • Curious, detail oriented, and analytical with a proven ability to learn quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


  • B.S. in a computer science or engineering related area or equivalent technical experience.
