A customer-centric and cloud technology focused technical expert who has demonstrated technology design & delivery expertise in forward looking digital solutions in a modern cloud based, enterprise grade environment. The successful candidate will be cloud technology agnostic but with a bias towards customer-centric digital platforms solutions leveraging heavily on a multi-cloud environment that comprise elements of open-source, PaaS and SaaS components. The candidate will also be well versed in modern web and mobile applications development.
The Software Solution Architect works closely with business/product line stakeholders to support intake of business initiatives, vetting them against defined roadmaps and incorporating them into Solution Approaches.
The Software Solution Architect will be responsible for defining the overall solution approach for the products, capabilities and technologies utilised in the Assistance digital business line by customers and in accordance with the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap. The Software Solution Architect supports the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) plans. This position is responsible for the implementation of service-oriented and component-based digital platforms technologies that serve the customers. This role also supports promotion of EA standards, policies and guidelines to ensure appropriate application, implementation, and compatibility with company-wide information architectural and technical standards.
As the role will be involved from start to finish in various digital product and platform projects to deliver on the enterprise architecture roadmap, it is essential to understand all aspects of each initiative, from both a business and technical point of view. This means building a full working knowledge of technologies and architectures in scope (both existing and new).
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with the CTO and Chief Enterprise Architect to develop the digital platforms and products architecture strategy for specific business lines in consultation with International SOS’ business needs and aligned with regional and global roadmaps.
Work closely with the Product Team to advise on development of appropriate solution architectures in response to product development initiatives
Work closely with Business Analysts in translating business requirement specifications to Technical specifications
Designing digital platforms & products technology, data and solution deployment roadmaps
Explore a range of possibilities and creative alternatives to identify the most effective solutions
Explaining to Technical/Software Architects and developers what is required and providing support as required to ensure delivery of the documented solution
Ensures the solution approach is correct and being implemented in the approved manner by working closely with the business and development teams and Technology Governance Board
Owning and delivering the Solution Approaches for the next generation of International SOS’s key digital product lines used by customers within a cloud focused environment and in a manner that delivers a high reliability, scalable, secure and extensible design.
Liaising with people from different backgrounds, from management to designers and programmers in the IT department, to ensure the solution approach meets the needs of the organisation and the people who'll be using it.
Assist in preparation of business cases and technology cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licenses, development and support
Ensure the Solution Architecture Approaches follow the boundaries of the published Enterprise Domain Roadmaps
Assisting in identifying which Technology Components to incorporate into the overall designs based on suitability for purpose, cost benefit analysis and research
Within the agreed enterprise architecture, define and design technology solutions to assist the business in meeting their objectives
Evaluating vendors for architectural recommendations
Breaking down large scale initiatives into manageable chunks
Maintain an awareness of business solutions that fit our current and future operational needs
Rapidly gain an in-depth understanding of the “as is” architecture landscape.
Applies judgment on IT project related work activities requiring high degree of discretion and initiative.
5+ years of relevant enterprise or solution architecture experience, including digital platform & product architecting end to end cloud based solutions and designing/developing architecture policies/standards
10+ years software development accomplishment and experiences.
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering. M.S. or higher preferred.
Certification in one architecture discipline (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) is a distinct advantage
Certification in one cloud environment is a distinct advantage
Additional Skills & Knowledge:
Strong leadership skills to push change to effectively meet strategic and tactical solution driven goals
Knowledge of modern digital product & platform development and coding practises and able to effectively determine the most relevant technologies to choose for a solution approach.
Experienced in delivering cloud based technology product solutions for customers in an enterprise level environment
Should be a technologist who has hands on experience in multiple technical disciplines related to the architecture of digital products and platforms in cloud environments (AWS preferred / MS Azure, DevSecOps tools and SDLC environment)
Understands the optimum approaches for cloud based applications in relation to high reliability and highly scalable solutions
Exposure or understanding of low-code platforms such as Outsystems, Mendix, Kony
Experienced in designing for API & Micro-services centric environment an Enterprise Integration Platform such as Tyk, Tibco, Mulesoft (preferred), AWS API Gateway etc
Experience with enterprise data architecture and data model (EDM) design for digital platforms & products
Has worked with containers, multiple development languages & different DB engines SQL, noSQL (Hadoop, Cassandra, etc)
Wide knowledge of multiple infrastructure/application technologies including (but not limited to): Open Systems (UNIX/LINUX), Enterprise Databases, Middleware, Web services, RESTFul API’s, Application development platforms, testing tools, HTML, High Availability designs and technologies
Experience in defining and socialising the enterprise digital platform roadmaps and translating the roadmap into tactical implementable steps
Demonstrated capability to self-learn new digital platform / product technology trends and approaches
Develops and implements innovative and creative solutions to business problems. Encourages and expects others to think "outside the box" and not be limited by existing methods and procedures, but also be able to understand the business constraints that lead to “in the box” approaches.
Experienced working with teams operating in both are waterfall & agile disciplines
Knowledge of integrating solutions with standard Identity and Access management platforms (Okta preferred). Knowledge of Authentication, Authorization concepts (SSO, SAML integration, identity federation etc
Availability to travel to our offices in Singapore and UK on an as required basis is a must have.
