About Propeller

Almost every part of our daily life is now digital, from hailing a cab to paying a bill. But our medicines have not caught up. They're still stuck in an analog era. Propeller Health is on a mission to improve people's health by connecting the world's medicines. Our growing team enjoys working together to innovate new technology to address challenging problems whose solutions create enormous social value and improve patient health.

We aim to create beautifully invisible technology, accessible to all, that ensures people are free from the burden of chronic disease. Our medical devices are a combination of hardware sensors and software that digitally guides the course of therapy for patients and physicians managing respiratory disease.

Why This Job Is Important

Our goal is to help as many people as possible live better lives. In this role, you'll have a direct impact on Propeller's products and spend most of your day in our software applications. You can be motivated knowing you're making a difference in individual patients' lives by improving the software they use every day. You'll help troubleshoot and dig down into technical problems, and work to improve our products over time. You'll embrace regulatory processes with passion and constantly seek ways to improve our products and the lives of individuals with asthma and COPD.

What You Will Do and Learn

You will actively participate in the Kanban Agile software development process as a cross-functional product development team member and learn something new every day about software development, testing, medical device regulations and how long most QA members can go without snacks or coffee (hint: it isn't very long).

You will also learn by

  • Creating and executing test plans to assess and validate the software, ensuring that it is of high quality and also did not break other dependencies within the product.
  • Iterating on the quality process used to test the software to improve the overall product quality, test coverage, and constantly changing regulatory requirements.
  • Participating and eventually leading group discussions to review how changes in the software could lead to risks and hazards for the patient (and how to mitigate these risks).
  • Learning the ins and outs of regulatory standards and the development of software, and how they constantly change and intertwine in the development of digital health.

Who You Will Work With

You will work on a small 5-7 person, self-organized product development team with other smart, creative and passionate engineers, designers and quality assurance teammates.

Consider Joining Us If You Have

  • A passion for validating software and squashing bugs
  • A focus on the process and being in the weeds on projects
  • A creative mind with an eye for detail (yet can still tell a good joke)
  • BS Degree and/or 3+ years of relevant software QA experience

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with software development in a regulated environment
  • Experience with medical devices or healthcare
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (JIRA)

What's In It For You

  • You get to become an integral part of the development team, as a Software Quality Assurance Tester, that is already full of motivated and bright people motivated to produce quality software.
  • Propeller is the leading mobile platform for respiratory health management and this position puts you in the center of the innovation happening in digital health.
  • You will get the chance to expand your skill set into testing many different products and learning the regulatory side of developing a software product.
  • An opportunity to work with software, systems and processes to improve the lives of people living with respiratory disease.
