ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead software development team and software development activities using Agile/Scrum methodology and consistent with the IEC 62304 standard
Ability to delegate a top level software project, including deciding on task partitioning
Proactively report on status of development, quality, and risks to management
Effectively estimate time and effort on projects and tasks in collaboration with the team, demonstrate ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks
Identify resource requirements, build hiring pipeline for software engineers with strong focus on retaining talent
Provide technical mentorship to software team developing software for Android based platforms
Propose and implement software architectures and designs to achieve the requirements
Contribute with hands-on development of product deliverables when necessary
Propose and manage to applicable coding standards and best practices, including design & code reviews
Work with Software Quality to execute and manage V&V protocols and reports
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
Maintain software risk management file in accordance with ISO 14971
Maintain and prepare software documentation in compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 13485.
The Software Manager will have management responsibility over on-site developers and will coordinate with offsite software development teams.

Experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization and execution of work
Experienced at delivering robust and reliable mission critical production software for embedded medical systems
Experience in developing SW/FW and FW/HW interfaces in cooperation with hardware teams
Fluent in at least one mainstream object oriented language (e.g. Java, C#).
Development experience with service-oriented architectures in Android environment
Experience working positively and productively in a team environment. Highly collaborative.
Experience with CI/CD tools preferred.
Experience with Docker preferred.
Experience with JIRA or other issue tracking systems.
Experience with an ALM such DOORS.
Experience with JUnit and other unit testing frameworks for Java.
Experience with GIT, software version control system or similar.
Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Design.
3+ years Agile/Scrum software development experience, ScrumMaster certification preferred
2+ years proven experience in operational leadership of a software development team for commercial software development
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to manage up and down within the organization
Excellent leadership, time management, communication (written and verbal), decision-making, presentation, and organization skills
Demonstrated success in developing medical systems software consistent with IEC 62304, and working within an ISO13485 regulated quality system environment
Must be skilled at managing a significant workload and achieving excellent results, taking on additional responsibility and managing priorities as needed
Adept at creating and following realistic plans, goal setting, resource management, contingency planning, coordinating and cooperating with others
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
5 to 8 years of experience in the field of medical device software preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2+ years supervisory or management experience required.
Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
