Position Summary

This Software Engineer III (SE III) position will focus on the design, implementation and maintenance of automated testing of the Web-based UI Configuration Utility (TMUI) for the BIG-IP® Application Delivery Controller. Additional duties of the position will include creating test plans and automation for large projects based on product documentation and functional specifications.

SE IIIs are assigned multiple feature areas and will regularly work with team members across Product Development teams. SE IIIs exhibit strong competence utilizing various troubleshooting tools, facilities and equipment in the course of debugging issues found during work. They build relationships with team members and accept ownership of features and bugs until a resolution is delivered.

   

Responsibilities

  • Implement automated tests and infrastructure to provide feature coverage
  • Develop and maintain automation framework which is stable and extendable
  • Analyze and evaluate test results, report and assist in resolution of product issues
  • Work independently and with key stakeholders to understand product requirements, architecture and new feature designs
  • Participate actively in the code review process; posting scripts, incorporating feedback, and reviewing automation submitted by other team members
  • Proactively and effectively communicate status, plan-of-action, and issue resolution
  • Work with SCRUM teams and product owners to refine requirements and insure delivery as specified and scheduled.
  • Perform in lead capacity on a project team(s) and at code reviews as required
  • Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing products or new product directions
  • Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Test automation experience is required. Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or otherscriptinglanguages is required
  • Proficient in white box and black box testing methodologies
  • Hands-on technical experience with and very knowledgeable on network protocols, UNIX or Linux Operating systems, and/or networking hardware required (e.g. VLAN - setup and implementation, switch configuration)
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model
  • Knowledge of application layer protocols (e.g. HTTP, SSL) preferred
  • Must be able to relay technical information to other Product Development team members with varying skill levels
  • Java and/or other Object-Oriented programming experience desirable
  • Experience with Perforce or other source control management tools preferred
  • Proven track record in a team environment
  • Analytical thinker with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to work with moderate supervision

Qualifications

  • 5+ years professional experience in the testing and/or development of computer software, preferably in the Linux environment
  • Demonstrated experience in testing fundamentals. Writing test cases, creating test plans, owning defects from beginning to end, and test case automation
  • Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code for UI components
  • Unmistakable passion for elegant and intuitive user interfaces
  • Product Development experiencepreferred
  • BA/ BS degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
