General Position Summary
The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of SAP's Business Warehouse (BW) and Business Objects software solutions. The successful candidate is responsible for relational and multidimensional data modeling, ETL development, data cleansing and validation, report and dashboard development, and system job monitoring. The candidate will have thorough knowledge of systems analysis theory and practice, as well as experience with the full software development lifecycle. Must have strong interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple project assignments, and the ability to interact effectively with multiple customers.
The position requires the ability to support periodic system upgrades and enhancements, understand the impact to the current functionality, test Johns Hopkins functionality in the upgraded release, and communicate impacts to the team and the Enterprise.
The Software Engineer is a member of the Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) group within IT@Johns Hopkins and supports the Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Health System. The Software Engineer reports to the ERP Manager at the Mt Washington campus
Position is primarily located within the Baltimore, MD area, serving internal customers in sites throughout Maryland, DC, and, in smaller numbers, national/international users.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide daily support of the SAP Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Objects reporting environments by monitoring nightly jobs, recording/providing status on issues, troubleshooting/analysis of issues, identification and execution of possible solutions, testing of solutions, and monitoring of solutions in the production environment.
Enhance the existing data warehouse and analytics solutions by working with EBS functional team members and users to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Participate in the EBS departmental Agile software development process. Provide frequent updates and estimates on assigned work.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business Administration. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree.
Five years of experience developing in SAP's BW and or Business Objects software.
Self-motivated, self-supervised and solution driven
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience providing technical solutions in a higher-ed, academic medical center, and/or health care setting
Experience working on one or more full lifecycle SAP implementations (or significant upgrade experiences)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)
Relational and multidimensional modeling.
Write, maintain, and debug transformation logic using ABAP programming language.
Analytics development using SAP Business Objects BI reporting tools(Analysis, Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, Design Studio/Lumira)
Knowledge of system processes and configuration in SAP to support and lead problem identification and resolution
Customer service skills – capable of participating in a dialog with users/functional team members, understand the nature of the request being made, provide timely feedback to the customer
Knowledge of SAP functional areas (HR/Finance/Supply Chain)
Ability to work in a team environment
Microsoft Office Software skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Helpful to have experience with Integrated Planning
Helpful to have an understanding of SEM BCS module.
Helpful to have an understanding of Agile software development
Helpful to have ETL experience with Cloud based systems.
