Role Summary:

In this role, you will join an existing team of talented Software Engineers creating our next generation networking platform which enables connectivity between all our patient monitoring devices. Your efforts, along with efforts of the team you will be working with, will not only deliver our next generation networking platform, but will directly contribute to solutions that truly help healthcare professionals care for their patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

We are looking for someone with an interest in distributed systems and who wants to work on the \"behind the scenes\" technologies which enable computing devices to dynamically discover each other and exchange critical information in real-time. You will be working with the same technologies that have enabled the \"Internet of things\" and apply them to a healthcare environment where a distributed system of patient monitoring devices must work together to seamlessly provide life critical information to healthcare professionals.

In this role, you will be expected to:

�\tDesign and implement platform software and services for GE Healthcare's Mobile Digital Health products

�\tWork across the entire software development lifecycle including software requirements, high-level and detailed design specifications, software implementation, verification, defect resolution and maintenance activities

�\tCollaborate with Development Leads and Architects to design solutions and implement them into products

�\tEvaluate basic technology/software design choices and articulate tradeoffs

�\tParticipate in pair programming and code reviews

�\tDevelop automated unit, integration and system level tests to verify the design and implementation

�\tParticipate in Agile project planning activities with the team to define, estimate and plan tasks

�\tTake ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using discretion to seek help when needed

�\tParticipate in non-program engineering improvements to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the team


�\tBachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related computer degree

�\tMinimum of 2 years of experience in software design while working on senior engineering projects, internships, open source or product development

�\tPrevious experience with Java and/or C++ software design and implementation capabilities

�\tDemonstrated written and verbal communication skills

�\tYou must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without sponsorship at time of hire

�\tYou must be willing to work in our Milwaukee, WI facility full-time

Desired Characteristics:

�\tExperience or studies related to distributed systems, peer-to-peer networks or computer networking

�\tExperience with service-oriented architectures and microservices

�\tExperience with multi-threaded, concurrent systems

�\tExperience with configurating basic network setups

�\tExperience with Docker and Docker containers

�\tExperience with Gradle/CMake/Conan for build automation

�\tExperience with Ansible for software provisioning, configuration and application deployment

�\tAble to develop in a Linux-based environment

�\tAble to develop using Git for software configuration management

�\tAble to implement automated tests using BDD and xUnit frameworks

�\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting, discussing, and documenting technical information

�\tVoices opinions, presents clear rationale, uses data or factual evidence to influence decisions

�\tEffective problem-solving capabilities including the ability to break down problems and drive closure to resolutions

�\tAbility to work effectively within and across various teams
