This position is for a software engineer to support the Advanced Programs collection of projects. Advanced Programs has an established history supporting the Global Positioning System in capabilities such as ground receivers, constellation simulation, and software-based monitoring of constellation health. The various projects each have different focuses and learning opportunities for applicants with specific technical interest.
The candidate will work in an agile scrum development environment to design and develop technically complex software systems in the Advanced Programs baseline. Tasks include defining sub-system architecture, performing detailed software design, generating design documentation, and software implementation and testing (to include developing unit tests). Works under general direction from senior team members to ensure product development is aligning with higher level program goals.
Alongside the chance to improve and develop software, engineers on the team are confronted with unique technical challenges daily. There is a large swath of subjects to learn about whether the task at hand is figuring out how much the Moon's gravitational pull moves the surface of the Earth, how which direction a satellite is currently pointing affects its projected signals, or how relativity affects our calculations. This position will reward those who have a passion for learning.
