Summary

The Product Software Development team at nLIGHT is charged with delivering world class software and firmware for our rapidly growing laser products business. The ideal candidate is highly motivated with an excellent academic track record and is eager to learn and work in a team environment. They will contribute to the requirements and test infrastructure for nLIGHT's laser products and supporting infrastructure. They would join a small team with a big impact, requiring good team work in a dynamic environment.

Functions

  • Work independently with guidance from colleagues and partners to understand and manage feature requirements, expectations, and priorities
  • Work from requirements to create solutions meeting product needs
  • Develop robust code used in demanding 24x7 production environments worldwide
  • Learn software engineering processes and practices to produce high-reliability and high-quality software
  • Document appropriately
  • Assist and support internal customers with test software and build system issues

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience with a BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of Windows OS and development environment using C# or embedded development using C
  • Familiarity with Python development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail and an ability to absorb and assimilate information rapidly
  • Proficient with Microsoft SW: Excel, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Linux development a plus
  • Electronics knowledge a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Visual Studio toolchain for Windows development
  • IAR or Keil toolchain for embedded development
  • Build and configuration management for code release
  • Linux Software Development using the gnu toolchain
  • Scripting with Python
  • Computer Skills – git or other SW configuration management systems
