Job Description

The Azure Edge + Platform Engineering System designs, builds, and operates the largest scale engineering system in the industry. We are building large scale systems by leveraging our experience and knowledge in distributed systems and hybrid cloud computing. Our services support the secure development and release of some of the most widely used products in the world!

The Dependency Management and Secure Solutions team is responsible for iterative security improvements building upon defense in depth in our Windows and Linux engineering systems. Some of the areas include evolving the Windows build infrastructure code and services, ensuring open source is leveraged responsibly throughout these systems, building out recovery workflows for potential critical Azure outage scenarios, and maintaining Linux-based containers used for Azure infrastructure agent development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and validate solutions and services with a specific focus on reliability, performance, efficiency, latency, security, and scalability of infrastructure, ensuring high quality and compliance standards
  • Design, develop, and maintain telemetry pipelines and monitoring tools that detail operations metrics for both the infrastructure and the services for critical development and release scenarios
  • Collaborate effectively in a team atmosphere
  • Participate in complete software development lifecycle, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve overall quality
  • Conduct periodic on call duties and live site support
  • Use data to develop insights and guide business decisions

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure. (Azure or AWS)
Other Qualifications:

Cloud Background Check

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing and managing services in a development, operations, and site reliability engineering role.
  • 4+ years of hands-on use of telemetry systems and querying languages (Azure or AWS Data Lake, Azure Data Explorer, Apache Spark, or Splunk) to understand customer usage patterns, as well as to diagnose and drive improvements to production services.
  • Dedicated to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Ability to both lead and collaborate within and across teams effectively.
  • Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, and maintaining services, especially architectures at scale.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
