What You will do
Your role will be Software Engineer and you will be part of world-class engineering team that works on ground breaking technologies in Intent Based Enterprise Networking (IBNG) group. IBNG is responsible for all Routing/Switching, wireless controllers, Security and IOT platforms in CISCO. This team works on incorporating Open Source technologies and methodologies to facilitate CISCO IBNG journey to provide work class HW and SW products. DNA-C, SaaS, SD-WAN, Wireless Controllers etc. products/technologies will be your work area. You will have opportunity to work and contribute/maintain to Open Source community (Kernel/FOSS). You will be part of team who work on complex HW and SW issues and plan ahead roadmap of future technologies. CISCO is Platinum member of Linux Foundation and YOCTO communities and you will be part of this team.
Day to day work will involve but not limited to: writing/reviewing functional and design specifications, programming, unit and integration testing your own code etc. You will be part of team of 20+ engineers across globe. Work on ARM/x86/PPC/MIPS architecture based Platforms providing Kernel and Open Source code for IBNG platforms. You will work with Platform HW teams to understand architecture, develope/provide Linux-OS, FOSS (user-lang packages), drivers etc. You will work with Silicon vendors/OpenSource community to incorporate code in IBNG products.
Self motivated, driven and a teammate. You are willing to learn and be passionate about working on a wide range of HW/SW networking products. Strong verbal and written communication skills. You have worked for 8-10 years on Linux based Networking product development with good exposure to Open Source Code usage in products. Excellent expertise on Open Source technologies, YOCTO, device drivers, Linux Distros etc. Experience as contributor or maintainer of Open Source will be a huge plus.
You must have worked with one of SoC architecture - ARM, x86, PPC, MIPS and famalier with many networking product system level tools used for debugging complex HW/SW problems. Good understanding of Linux kernel, drivers, PHY/MAC etc (work on HW board bring up will be plus). You are comfortable with using compilers, makefiles, Linkers etc and YOCTO/FreeOpenSourceSoftware tools and utilities.
Very good understanding of networking concepts, protocols and its usage in product configurations. Languages : c/c++, Python, shell scripts, exposure to JAVA are MUST. Exposure to very large code base and use of latest source code management/review tools is MUST (GIT, Gerrit etc.)
